Interesting perspective. Hird was a great player but has certainly damaged Essendon enormously. I guess it depends how long it will take to recover. If they had sacked him at the end of 2013 they would be well on their way.

The Saints being a young team is a myth, plenty of old players (Riewoldt montagna Fisher Armitage Dempster Geary Ray Schneider) and a bunch of middle age players, only a handful of kids.. our 22 would be younger easily.
