Cats Hunt New Bird of Prey

by Ben Reid in MATCH PREVIEWS
LAST TIME: Geelong 17.15 (117) defeated West Coast 10.9 (69), second preliminary final, 2011 at the MCG
It wasn’t so long ago that Geelong appeared set to be a bystander in the race for the 2012 premiership as they simply weren’t producing the style of play that they had become renowned for.

Their gamestyle had become sloppy and slow and they seemed to be achieving wins off of some the talent available rather than actually by reaching their ful potential.

There were several games where they did enough to win over some of the poorer sides, and the question had been raised, ‘had we seen the best of this Geelong outfit?’.

Well things change quickly, and suddenly, the top five sides are looking over their shoulders in trepidation.

Real scared for this game. We have some humongous outs, and WC have some very good ins. Oh and it's at Soobs.

WC by 15

West Coast should win this our midfield is bare of clearance players and main ruckman now. If they can tag Selwood even semi successfully we will need another Hawthorn like performance to have a hope.

West Coast have not been in good form and the Cats have. However, Embley and Glass are huge ins for us, and the Cats have a few big outs. Eagles are going to have to lift to get over the Cats in this one though.

Not even the bookies can decide this one, even odds. I think the Eagles can do it in a close one though.

I reckon this will be a ripper match, don't really care who wins, but I did pick WC by 7. I just want to see a great game.
