Teams Seattle Seahawks - The 12th Man

Strange to play the 49ers so close together.

Sometimes it happens like that… Steelers played Ravens in 2012 inside three weeks.. Ravens lost to back up Charlie Batch :D but that didn't derail their campaign to claim the division with a 10-6 record and we all know what happened in the '13 play-offs.

Thats ET and Sherm.

The only minus is other teams appear to have picked up the whole press/man thing, so no more cheap corners in the 5th round.

For this year. We have Maxwell this year and Tharold Simon in the wings.

I expect by the time we need to draft corner a few teams will have busted and the sub-6ft corner will be back.

Not too concerned about our draft - we have the core group of players now that even if these guys don't turn up to be the gems Schneider is known for, we won't be in a bad position.

It's mainly the O-line that scares me. Everywhere else I think we are quite sound but Russell is not going to get a helluva lot of protection next season. The bigger defences like St Louis that the O-line have struggled to contain in the past will destroy us.

Keith Price among nine rookie free agents to agree to terms with Seahawks

Once the NFL Draft concluded on Saturday, the Seahawks started compiling their rookie free-agent class and nine have agreed to terms – including former University of Washington QB Keith Price

When Keith Price attended the local-player workout at Virginia Mason Athletic Center last month, the former University of Washington quarterback expressed a desire to join the Seahawks.

“I know that coach (Pete) Carroll’s philosophy is competing, and I wouldn’t mind being a part of it,” Price said at the time. “My motto is, all I need is a foot in the door and I’ll take care of the rest.”

Price got his wish Saturday, when he was among nine rookie free agents to agree to terms with the Seahawks at the conclusion of the three-day NFL Draft.

Also agreeing to terms with the Seahawks:

  • USC strong safety Dion Bailey
  • Montana linebacker Brock Coyle
  • Central Arkansas tight end Chase Dixon
  • Penn State tackle Garry Gilliam
  • Oklahoma guard Bronson Irwin
  • Texas defensive end Jackson Jeffcoat
  • South Carolina cornerback Jimmy Legree
  • Eastern Washington defensive tackle Andru Pulu.
Pulu also participated in the Seahawks’ workout for local players.

Price, Pulu and the other seven free agents will join the nine players selected by the Seahawks in the draft for the team’s three-day rookie minicamp that begins Friday. And Price should get a lot of reps during the workouts.

“We had a good look at him, obviously,” Carroll said Saturday. “Being a local kid, we’ve seen him for years. We had a good look at him at his workouts. He came here for our local workout. We feel very, very comfortable with him. We know that’s he’s got a big upside. He seemed to fit in really well with our coaches. We just feel really comfortable and we think we can give him a real good shot at it.”

Excited about signing Jeffcoat and bailey.

Jeffcoat's interesting, in that he has a lot of Michael Sam's issues (ie too short, too slow but has good game tape). Im thinking he's the sort of chip-on-shoulder player Seattle loves. Same with Talaat, who is an interesting defensive end, who played for a Division III side, and is deaf.

The Seahawks waived tackle Garrett Scott today after the sixth-round pick failed his physical because of a rare heart condition.

“After undergoing an extensive physical with our medical staff last week, Garrett’s examination revealed a rare heart condition that will prevent him from any on-field participation in the near future,” said Executive VP and General Manager John Schneider in a statement released by the team.

“We think highly of Garrett as a person and as a football player. The team is committed to supporting Garrett in the months to come and will continue to help him determine his next steps.”

Scott, who signed his rookie contract Thursday, was Seattle’s first of two sixth-round draft choices (199th overall) in this month’s NFL Draft.

He played in 41 games with 35 starts for Marshall, and was voted to the All-Conference USA second-team after his senior season.

It looks like the Seahawks may already have an option to fill-in for Scott. According to this story, Seattle has signed former Cumberland University offensive tackle A.J. Harmon. Harmon was invited to and participated in rookie minicamp. Harmon started his college career at Georgia before becoming academically ineligible.

After wrapping up the final day of mini-camp on Thursday, the Seattle Seahawks had the chance to put on their Super Bowl championship rings for the first time.

In a private ceremony in downtown Seattle Thursday night, the Seahawks received their championship rings that commemorate their 43-8 victory over the Denver Broncos in Super Bowl XLVIII in February.

The design of the ring, which was made by Tiffany & Co., was created after several meetings that included Seahawks owner Paul G. Allen, head coach Pete Carroll, general manager John Schneider, president Peter McLoughlin and other Seahawks executives.

The release from the team also describes the details of the fairly elaborate ring design.

The white gold Seahawks Super Bowl XLVIII championship ring features a three-dimensional Seahawks logo of 64 round diamonds with a vibrant emerald hue tsavorite eye. The iconic logo is outlined in blue and is framed by 12 diamonds. The Vince Lombardi Trophy, comprised of one marquis diamond, stands in the background amongst a sea of 107 round diamonds with a border reading “WORLD CHAMPIONS”. Forty blue sapphires surround the ring top flanked by two “12″ flags.

The shank, or sides of the ring, tells the story of the championship season. One shank includes the team’s final record of 16-3, a southward view of CenturyLink Field with the “12″ flag and Mt. Rainier, highlighted with the individual player’s name and number. The other side features the Seattle skyline, Vince Lombardi Trophy with a marquis diamond, Super Bowl XLVIII logo and NFL shield.

The ring band features 12 feathers, similar to the markings on the team uniforms. The phrases “LEAVE NO DOUBT”, “24/7″, “SEA 43- DEN 8″ and “WHAT’S NEXT?” are engraved inside each ring.
