Both teams coming off outright victories in their last game in December, but will the long break and BBL mode interrupt their momentum?

Last game
  • New South Wales 373 (Mennie 4/60, Sayers 3/82) and 148 (Putland 4/35) lost to with South Australia 426 (Hughes 118, Ferguson 80) and 4/100 (Ferguson 45*) by 6 wickets @ Sydney Cricket Ground.
  • Queensland 8/382 dec. (Burns 75, Pomersbach 73, Hopes 57) and 6/313 dec. (Burns 102, Pomersbach 85, Lynn 60) defeated Victoria 371 (McDermott 4/78, Hopes 3/61) and 142 (Feldman 4/36) by 7 wickets @ Gabba.
Queensland XII squad
  • James HOPES (c)
  • Cameron BOYCE
  • Joe BURNS
  • Ben CUTTING
  • Luke FELDMAN
  • Peter FORREST
  • Cameron GANNON
  • Chris HARTLEY (+)
  • Usman KHAWAJA
  • Alister McDERMOTT
  • Luke POMERSBACH
  • Nick STEVENS
In: Gannon, Stevens
Out: Chris LYNN (fractured rib)

Stevens is an opener but the Bulls might be reluctant to break up the ad-hoc partnership of Burns and Pomersbach who both scored heavily in both innings in their last win over Victoria. Gannon was very successful in BBL|03 and might push Feldman out of the side.

South Australia XII squad
  • Johan BOTHA (c)
  • Tom COOPER
  • Callum FERGUSON
  • Travis HEAD
  • Michael KLINGER
  • Tim LUDEMAN (+)
  • Joe MENNIE
  • Gary PUTLAND
  • Sam RAPHAEL
  • Chadd SAYERS
  • Daniel WORRALL
  • Adam ZAMPA
In: Raphael, Worrall, Zampa
Out: Phil HUGHES (Australian duties), Kane RICHARDSON (personal leave)

Raphael has to fill the huge shoes of Hughes, who is the Redbacks's top run scorer this season. Richardson has remained in Adelaide to attend a funeral, and assuming the SA side won't go with two spinners on the Gabba, Worrall will be his replacement.

Great to see Putland named. Batting is still the biggest question mark still with Botha at 6 and Ludeman at 7.

Yeah, I'd guess Zampa will miss. Gannon or Feldman will miss for Queensland. At a guess:

Stevens Raphael
Pomersbach Klinger
Khawaja Head
Burns Ferguson
Forrest Cooper
Hopes Botha
Hartley Ludeman
Cutting Sayers
Boyce Mennie
Feldman Worrall
McDermott Putland

Cooper must love playing Queensland, another great innings today and Botha has done well to put the match in our favour at this point. We have to keep picking up points if we want a home final as NSW seem to be getting them fairly consistently also.

Should get the 1st innings points here at least. Cooper is having probably his best Shield season atm, our most consistent bat right now without Hughes here.

4/30 on a road. Piss poor from QLD. They have been s**t.

Khawaja, Burns, Pomersbach, Forrest................serial underperformers.

The only thing that made us competitive in the previous few seasons was the Lehman influence. Now he is gone we are back to mediocrity as usual.
