Roast Shopping and Sale items (supposedly)

Now I am a bit old fashioned that I still go to the same butcher shop, grocery, doctor and chemist and have done so for many, many years. Not only do I like the idea of supporting small traders, they provide quality service.

Last week I went to Chemist Warehouse (my chemist not open Sundays) as I need some bandage for sore wrist. As I was walking around noticed many items on sale, some clearly showed the discounted price but a lot of others just had a red Sale tag with the price. I lifted the tag to see the before price and it was exactly the same. This is also true of the supermarkets and yesterday saw many items at AGI that were not reduced but had a sale/special tag.

Is this legal, if so I think it is very deceitful implying that some things have been reduced when in fact they haven't.

The other thing I noticed, I bought a jar of the new Nescafe coffee and noticed that it was packed in Greece from imported ingredients. So much for food labeling and buying Australian.

That faux discounting has been happening for years. Jewellery shops specialise in it. Coles will put a discount sticker on an item at the price you've always paid, then the next week it's up by a dollar.

I'm constantly asking supermarket staff to advise management that I want to but Australian goods, especially food. Why the hell would they import things like berries from China, with its reputation for poorly regulated food production and environmental destruction???
