An idea would be to chase Daniel Talia later, particularly with the Danger connection big 3 Miami style except across more than one year and after that as we really get ready head to the premiership peak 2017-2019 when Sydney and Hawks start to dip we make a play for Frawley or Roughead or get Rance back with a suitable trade or FA in Roughead's case.

I am throwing this up not as a genuine reality scenario, lets face it, its a long shot thrown up to create debate. If it happens it happens but I have little connection to the club apart from being a supporter so this is nothing more than a hypothetical generate ideas and thoughts and potentially other ways to extract value for the team without throwing players under the bus for those emotional types that get highly attached to players and regard them as a second son.

West Coast wouldn't be bad for Rancey, they are not disappearing, have potential and ability to rise up the ladder and unlike Freo they are not aging that much. Might be a good for Rancey, they could use him given his versatility, and, I know you have heard it before, but we could trade back for him when we really peak at fair value when he is older if it suits all parties.

Freo much more likely than WC to go after Rance IMO.

How do you trade a FA anyway? Pretty sure you can't?

You can trade anyone you like and FA I thought would be irrelevant otherwise it would be a restriction of trade.

Idea being a trade is more suitable to everybody than FA. Richmond do it because they want Duggan as opposed to pick whatever assessing the 2015 draft potentials with a better idea of what they need with a more mature list, Rance does it cause clubs more happy and amicable and it suits him, West Coast do it because they want Rance and this helps them get him versus Freo, plus it increases their chances attracting WA talent from GC and elsewhere with Rance on board. The trade versus FA is a way for West Coast still wins for them but beating Freo suiting RFC and Rance possibly

Freo could offer more possibly to Rance but atm they do not have the same prospects IMO to Rance list wise and opportunity for success. I think Freo need to have a little clean out, similar to the Pies in terms of reshaping their aged list, and rebuild a little before chasing other WA targets frankly. I am not buying the never ending top of the ladder scenario for Freo under Ross Lyon tbh.

Actually, when I think about it some more, Rance could go via FA, with a separate trade deal for Liam Duggan involving picks/players which may suit all parties better.

I am not saying we should do this necessarily.

But things have been delayed according to reports for whatever reason, assuming if even any delay is actually true, and I am not suggesting there are any issues at all. I would not know either way. Like I said I am justing throwing up options that may be considered which may or may not suit relevant stakeholders!

Rance is more important for our structure than Duggan and Paddy. Chaplin has been serviceable and is in his twilight years. Astbury is still an unknown quantity. If we lose Rance it would be a major blow to the list.

Adding Duggan and Paddy to the midfield would make our midfield almost unstoppable for many years but it isn't worth if for making the list unbalanced IMO.

The counter argument is an unbalanced list is only an issue when we are in contention which we are not at the moment. An unbalanced list creates draft value as well.

Furthermore, without Rance our key backs would be very weak compared to the rest of the list enabling the strong argument to Talia, Frawley, Roughhead etc.. down the track of their importance in any deals to encourage them to a RFC team effectively with everything possibly except for a few key backs.

Atm on the other hand, we have many holes in many places and it is more difficult case to present enticing would be suitors when list management issues are more vague

The hawks are in a different scale of operations don't you think? You just don't get rid of known valuable assets. You try to ADD to them and not end up with net neutral or loss situations.

Your bored aren't you!!

Whats the net neutral or loss situation?

I think if anything we are ahead of Hawthorn when they traded out to get Hodge.

I would have thought Rance out via FA for our premiership prospects with a related trade for Duggan is a clear net gain. Duggan will be very handy for many years after 2018 when we start to chase premierships not to mention other draft selections and future FA/trade targets.

Duggan will be helping us greatly for our 2025 premiership tilt, Rance will probably not.

Got it wrong, I build for the future and do not set massive debt burdens on future generations.

Under my watch jobs would be a reason for some to educate themselves further instead of some socialist BS story to fence human behaviour in society enhancing government employment performance perceptions while hiding politician administrative incompetence.

OP would go against everything the club has said it wouldn't do for the last 6 years. So, won't happen. The only way Rance will leave is of his own volition (ie: the money offered is too good to refuse).
