Shunted Off to Symonds again?

What, why?

Where's this news from?

Just alluded to after completion of an interview with Tendai Mzungu on 6PR as well.
Apparently to do with the fixturing of the FFA (Soccer) Grand Final on May 17 should Melbourne Victory earn the right to host. The FFA wants to use Etihad but it would clash with our game against the Bulldogs so some bright spark has suggested shunting us off to Geelong again. The alternative is that the Victory have to play their grand final interstate (now there's a solution). The Glory just need to knock the Victory off this weekend and it'll help to make it all go away.

Tendai's interview link is below (one hopefully works!):-

If this is true then they should play it at Whitten oval. Hosted the Tiges last week, the oval is in ripping nick and it's right near where I live!:)

As a passionate soccer supporter this is absolute bullshit. Victory won't host the GF anyway so it's totally moot. As Bicco said, just shift it to Whitten Oval. Our games against them in Melbourne get stuff all people and the Bulldogs are looking to take AFL games there again so they might as well use it as a trial run.

Apparently the toilets at Whitten Oval wouldn't be able to handle all that human traffic: http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/a...the-whitten-oval/story-fni5fazt-1227245311750
You need to be able to accommodate for all the turtle heads pushed out by all those pies and chips.
Could be on the cards in a couple of years, though.

Interstate? What's wrong with the shiny new soccer stadium they have there?

They think they're going to get more than that at a neutral venue?

They average ~27-28k for a normal game. Then factor in bandwagoners, away fans and corporates they will get way more than AAMI Park's capacity. They will sell out Etihad if they were to get to play there- especially if they play Sydney or Adelaide.

Not saying they wouldn't - but it was said that they'd move the game interstate if Etihad wasn't available. Surely Melbourne v Perth in Sydney or Brisbane would barely get 20k? Especially if it was at ANZ, which everyone seems to hate.

The same day as our clash against the doggies, Richmond play Collingwood at the MCG. Surely they could move that to Simmonds and play the soccer at the home of football. Win win.
