Maybe some of you guys can help, I can't connect to several severs due to being "full", is that always going to be the case or is it "just now" it's full?
I can't even que or anything.

It's mostly been pretty good from what I've noticed since about Saturday, I'm having trouble right now too though. Oceanic servers have been pretty good to me since everyone actually downloaded the thing.

You can specialise in education by having a university with all of the different wings added to research the bigger projects and buildings.

Yeah, but it doesn't seem like you can effectively sustain the city through the university. I imagine such a university would be expensive as to build, and offer little monetary return.

You're probably right but having a uni and community college up the tech level of your industrial buildings which means you earn more from them.

Yeah, it's definintely advantageous, just kind of wanted to build that kind of college town with a minimal amount of that stuff.

I checked the oceanic servers at 5:30 this morning and they still say full so I guess I can't join you guys, I've got a region on US east 3 if anyone is interested or I might make a new one on the Antarctic server.
I'm not sure of my origin name though so ill post that up when I think of it, maybe "palori".

I'm having some good fun aswell.
Origin name is Palori, shoot me a request if you wanna try out my region (the wooded one, 16 cities) in the antarctic server.
If not I have a mate or 2 who will likely join up at some point.

It's weird how that is, perhaps invites might sort it? I'll check out whether switching servers does anything to saved games. Still trying to get my head around the new way of playing too.

Whoa, thought you were joking about the Antartic server. :p

Are you playing sandbox mode or standard?

Standard. Got a casino city going and the basics of a residential/oil city.
Antarctic is just the name tag though, they are all based in the same building :p
Changing servers does nothing ASAIK but you can only invite to regions if they are already on the server and since I cant join either oceanic server, well stiff t***ies :p

Edit: Sent you a friends request fyfie :p

I know, it's still amusing though. :p

I know that regions you've started don't count towards your 10 region slots though. ;)

I'll jump on there in a bit.

I've got my oil empire going, well not really since I cant export any from the trade depot, does anyone know if the servers galatic market isnt working (Antarctic if it matters)?

I've had trouble exporting too, it seems to go quite slowly when it does too. I'm wondering whether you need to build a HQ to make it go faster.

Well, colour me surprised

A SimCity developer has got in touch with RPS to tell us that at least the first of these statements is not true. He claimed that the server is not handling calculations for non-social aspects of running the game, and that engineering a single-player mode would require minimal effort.

All about the DRM folks

And I just read this as well

Really, they need to ditch the SimPERSON simulation and get back to the SimCITY simulation. That way we could get offline play with bigger regions

I'm thinking of buying this game this afternoon after work. Is the gameplay worth it? I've been trying to read reviews but most of them go off on a tangent about the DRM stuff.

The negatives are known and are significant and that's why they've been focused on, but a lot of the new elements are great, I'd say worth it.

Ask and you shall receive:

Due to the issues with traffic routing I am playing around with this plan. I cheated the cash just to see if the plan will work. If it does it will form the future roadplan for all my future cities.

I reckon you'll hit issues when your population gets higher due to traffic lights. Try low density avenues maybe since they just have give way intersections.

Digging a bit deeper into the simulation of this game reveals how very disappointing this game is. Phantom population, ridiculously dumb AI, broken RCI.

This is my oil city.
Its a bit of a mess as its the first time I've ever built an oil production city so I wasnt sure on room etc, it works well though and makes alot of money (a mil every 20 mins or so I'd say, officially by the game about 800k a day).
Its short workers and I cant zone up the residential as they want shopping, which I cant give because it robs too many works (and there are enough there anyway).
So yeah, it works well, the money making is smooth but its a bit of a mess.
