Does anyone know what the smallest crowd for an AFL match at etihad is?
I would think this weeks melbourne-gws match up would have to be a contender with maybe 5000 to 6000 attending.

The only saving grace is that it's 1:10 instead of 4:40, think it'll be about 15,000 personally

The lowest attendance record being set will probably depend on 2 things.

Whether it's a game that involves Hawthorn and if it clashes with a soccer match at the MCG...

Here's a chance for Gill to put his creative hat on and do something to bring people out to the game. We all know it's going to be a low attendance. Get on the front foot and think of something "community minded" that will bring families to the game. Hold free footy clinics before and after on the ground. Do something.

Play it at Junction Oval.

Sides that cant draw 40,000 against Collingwood need not apply

Hawthorn 'only' drew 75,880 to an equivalent match only 2 months ago

Unfortunately ground rights will stop that from happening (not to mentioned health & safety). This is a chance though for the AFL to get on the front foot. Declare the day "Kids day" and let the kids onto the ground at quarter and 3/4 time as they do in the VFL. Have clinics after the game with the players. It's not like they need to get the cold baths etc.. for the following week. Would take an hour out of their "Mad Monday" celebrations and build enormous good will.

Won't happen though. The AFL will find too many reasons for it not to happen than to do something like this as a one-off.

How did Hawthorn's crowds from the last 3 weeks go whilst heading into the finals..?

And once the Hawks stop being successful all those bandwagon fans fall away it will be back to empty stadiums and being classed as a minnow:thumbsu:

Let's see if they can avoid the merger talks again
