Being an AFL Dreamteam fan, its all about the stats. For die hard fans that suspect failings in our team, Champion Data's 2015 AFL Prospectus highlight what we have already known for some time. Hawks murder us compared to the AFL's other teams and we are terrible at clearances compared to the AFL. If you get a chance and have the money I recommend reading up on our team from a statistical breakdown perspective.

You might even pick up Dreamteam while you are at it. ;)

Here are some facts for the 2013-2014 time period.
1. 2nd AFL - We average 69.4 against AFL (Hawks excluded). We average 110.8 against v Hawks.
2. 1st AFL - Opposition defensive half leads to inside 50 25.1% (Hawks excluded). Hawks 32.7% against us.
3. 1st AFL - Opposition defensive half leads to score 10.3% (Hawks excluded). Hawks 16.6% against us.
4. 1st AFL - Opposition Marks Inside 50 per game 8.7 (Hawks excluded). Hawks 14.8 against us.
5. 1st AFL - Opposition retention of kick inside 50 39.4% (Hawks excluded). Hawks 53.1% against us.
6. 2nd AFL - Opposition mark rate from kicks inside 50.16.8% (Hawks excluded). Hawks 24.1% against us.
7. 1st AFL - Opposition scores per inside 50 43.4% (Hawks excluded). Hawks 52.3% against us.
8. 1st AFL - Opposition goal per inside 50 20.2% (Hawks excluded). Hawks 30.5% against us.

Since 2004 we have ranked compared to the AFL for clearance wins %:
2004 16th, 2005 15th, 2006 11th, 2007 7th, 2008 10th, 2009 11th, 2010 6th, 2011 4th, 2012 15th, 2013 9th and in 2014 12th.

What do you make of those facts?

There s**t,its all a wank

Some people find them interesting. Sometimes they can provide useful information about a team's performance, though they aren't the be all and end all. There are different ways of measuring certain things, and not all measures are appropriate (effective disposal %, for example, can be problematic to measure as it depends on how you define 'effective'.)

Anyway 'they're s**t' isn't an argument. If you're going to post in a thread, at least back up your opinion.

What i'm saying is that our club don't use those and if you look at our record from Roos's days its not bad. These people have to justify their existence.

Stats are helpful to tell trends but shouldnt be the be all and end all. I mean, Reid can kick 0.4 in a game, all from the pocket on a bullshit angle and hit the post in attempts no one would ever get. But stats say he missed 4 shots on goal. Good for an overview but dont tell the whole story

Kicks AT goal mate, we are not soccer lol

Derickx rated the worse ruckmen in the whole league that played multiple games according to the stats.
Haha... It kinda, a little bit, makes sense... A little... Sorry Dexa. Love ya mate but passion doesn't show up on stat sheets. Still would rather him over Seaby 2bh.
