Consecutive 100+ losses to an opponent occurred only twice in the first 80 years of the VFL, and another 10 times in the 35 seasons 1977-2011. GWS has suffered this fate three times in its brief existence, to Adelaide, West Coast and Richmond.

Would be the last player to play against Gary Sr (and amazingly 13 seasons worth of games against his son too) and also the last Bomber to play at Kardinia Park in Rd 21 1993. His career longevity is truly astonishing.

Also, to go from debuting in the year of Gary Ayres and Dale Weightman's retirement to being the oldest in a league containing the likes of Josh Kelly and James Aish.

I think the Flea's 37 years older than Aish.

Remarkable.

The match between Collingwood and West Coast today was the first match this season where both team scored over 100 points.

It took 78 matches. Last year it only took 3 matches.

Not really a stat, just curio - the geographical breakdown of visitors to afltables.com this month.

Geelong with the win over North now have 1250 wins and 1050 losses.....so probably now having a 200 win surplus over losses for the first time in it's history.

Looking over the tables at AFL Tables, Geelong versus West Coast now has an identical 23-1-23 record, but Geelong has outscored the Eagles by 642 points. Surprising stat that, especially as the Eagles dominated the first 10 years or so.

We won a lot of those matches, but 1994 GF aside, I can't ever recall us thrashing the Cats.

On the flipside, I can definitely remember being the recipient of some massive losses to Geelong. 1989, 2005, 2008 (x2), 2013...

On three occasions Carlton has kicked the lowest score of the season in a year in which they won the premiership: 1968, 1970 and 1995.
The first team to do this was Essendon in 1923.
The only other team to achieve this were West Coast in 1992, who actually kicked the two lowest scores of the season.

What's the highest score a wooden spoon team has kicked, their biggest winning margin, and have they ever had the highest score of the season or conceded the lowest?

The highest score kicked by a team who ended up taking the wooden spoon is 26.15 (171) by Richmond vs. North Melbourne in round 5, 1989.

A wooden spooner has kicked the highest score of the season on two occasions, both times by South Melbourne. They kicked the highest score of 1922: 21.10 (136) and for 1962: 22.11 (143).

The biggest winning margin by a team who ended up taking the wooden spoon is 78 points by South Melbourne vs. Geelong in round 18, 1922. A wooden spooner has never produced the biggest winning margin of any season. Nor has a wooden spooner ever conceded the lowest score of any season.

If Dustin Fletcher plays all of Essendon's remaining games this year, he will have played 399 games.

Essendon are an outside chance of 11-12 wins and snagging 8th.

Collingwood (5th) v Essendon (8th) at the MCG for Fletcher's 400 would be awesome!

The way he spoke last night in the post-match interview, I reckon he thinks he has another season in him. I really want him to get to 426/427 but it's very unlikely that could be achieved next season

From a stats perspective, spewing Gunston didn't kick an extra goal today.

Roughead (30 goals), Breust (30 goals), Gunston (29 goals)

Couldn't be too many occasions where a club had 3 players kick 30 goals half way into the season.

Following on, many would recall 1993 was a good year for goalkicking.

After 10/20 rounds in 1993, North had Carey (40 goals), McAdam (38) and Longmire (37).
After 11 games in 1993, North had Carey (43 goals), McAdam (39) and Longmire (39).
