There have been numerous cases of players picked high in the National Draft failing to live up to expectations, but I am curious as to the highest number National Draft pick who never played a senior game.
Steven Sims (St Kilda) was pick 2 in 1986, and he never played a game. Chris McDermott (Brisbane* 1987) was also pick 2.

From 1990 onwards 10 top ten picks never played:- Stewart Devlin (Geelong 1990 #5), Damian Hampson (Carlton* 1990 #7), Paul Burton (Sydney 1991 #6), Jason Spinks (Sydney 1992 #5), Brett Chalmers (Collingwood* 1992 #10), Glenn Gorman (Sydney* 1993 #4), Ben Edwards (Fremantle 1995 #7), Brandon Hill (West Coast 1998 #10), Laurence Angwin (Adelaide* 2000 #7) and Luke Molan (Melbourne 2001 #9). Scharenberg and Freeman (Collingwood 2013) are excused at this stage for obvious reasons.

Lucas Cook (Melbourne 2010 #12) is the highest pick from the last few years who did not play at all.

* Didn't play for that club, but eventually played for another.

Furthermore, all 22 players scored 50+ DT points. That doesn't sound like something that would be achieved that often.

22 North players got double digits in disposals, that ever happened in the sub era?

Freo did it in Round 12, Sydney in Round 11 and Essendon in Round 1. Happened another 10 times 2011-13.

I've got it happening 18 times previously, and only once in each of 2011, 12 & 13. Last was Collingwood in R22 last year.

Today, Adelaide kicked 20.20 (5.6, 5.3, 5.5 and 5.6).

For 0 to x, how many times has a team scored the same number of goals each quarter?

With triple digit differentials in VFL/AFL history, what's the average winning and losing score?

There have been 276 instances of triple figure differentials.

Average winning score = 170.6
Average losing score = 52.1

Highest winning score: 239
Lowest winning score: 117

Highest losing score: 109
Lowest losing score: 1

How do I edit my post? Made a boo-boo:

There have been 278 instances of triple figure differentials.

This week 200.221 was kicked for an accuracy of 47.5%. When was the last time the scoring accuracy for a round was this low?
Worst rounds for accuracy since 1998:
2010 R3 45.5%
2012 R4 45.9%
2007 R4 46.0%
2006 R18 46.9%
2006 R13 47.0%
2007 R9 47.0%
2014 R16 47.5%

Does anybody know the modern day record for the most posters in one round? I recently read about this effort in the Football Record of April 17, 1976 (page7) which details 27 posters.

In recent years there have been many occasions when teams have hit the post with amazing regularity but the effort on May 30, 1936 would take some beating - even though it was in three League games.
At Fitzroy the Maroons hit the post four times in their match against Geelong (once); at Victoria Park, Collingwood hit the post four times - all in the last quarter; at Footscray the post was hit eleven times (six by the Tricolors and five by Carlton) and at Arden Street the overall tally was seven - five by Melbourne and two by North. It will doubtless be a long time before this happens as often again.

what percentage of players who kick exactly 6 goals in a losing side poll brownlow votes?

maybe go back a decade if its an easy task.
33 cases of a player receiving Brownlow votes out of the 70 where a player kicked 6 goals in a losing side in a h&a game from 2000-2013
= 47.1%. Votes 14 x 1, 12 x 2, 7 x 3.

North are undefeated against top 4 teams, and will likely remain so unless Geelong or Collingwood make the top 4.

How many sides have achieved a similar feat? I doubt any team has done it that were not in the top 4 themselves.
- Carlton were 4-0 in 1929 against the other 3 sides
- Carlton were 4-0 in 1995 against the other 3 sides
- Essendon were 4-0 in 2000 against the other 3 sides
- St Kilda were 4-0 in 2009 against the other 3 sides.

So I take it my proposition is correct. North Melbourne will be the first ever non top 4 side to be undefeated against the top 4 sides.

Hawthorn in 1984 is interesting. Going into the Grand Final, they were 8-0 against top 4 sides, yet they lost the one that mattered.

Bulldogs achieved this in 2000. I know this without even looking it up.

Edit: sorry didn't realise you said undefeated, as opposed to beating all the top four teams.

That stat isn't going to hold if current ladder positions remain as they are. Geelong into top 4 and Port to 5th.
