The law says "including but not limited to" match fixing/doping/assaulting officials, its a cover-all line that means they can inflict similar punishments in extraordinary cases such as this. I can't see an appeal being upheld, it is FIFA though, suitcase of cash under the table should do it.Yes they have but those bans have been for things that involve doping and match fixing. In other words incidents that occur off the pitch. Whilst FIFA laws don't implicitly say a worldwide ban can be for these reasons only it does say in general worldwide bans apply to these situations (and attacking match officials). Preventing Suarez from going to work is seen as illegal by FIFpro also.
FIFpro ate not appealing the ban from international competitions, just the worldwide ban.
Don't think it is an ideal precedent to set with clubs already reluctant releasing players for international comp. If their players can get banned for something that happens during international matches we will find them even less likely to co-operate with international football.
A fine in the order of 2 million euros or more would have been a more suitable punishment IMO in this instance.
Played allright though.how disloyal was suarez to Liverpool?
wanted to leave basically at the end of every season.
good riddance to a disloyal ****head.
