EDDIE McGuire has vowed Collingwood won't sign off on Rodney Eade's move to Gold Coast unless the Suns compensate the Magpies for their loss.

Eade remains contracted as Collingwood football manager to the end of 2016 and McGuire told News Ltd the Magpies could have to pay a premium to replace Eade, which would then trigger further costs under the AFL's new football department tax.

"There will be no deal unless we are compensated. There is now a salary cap on administrations and I won't be paying overs for a replacement," McGuire said.

Good point.

Eddie please do all the heavy lifting, then Port Adelaide can pick up the costs to cover Voss's salary to replace Walsh.
We paid over because Voss was on a hefty pay cheque from the Fox Footy reality show The Recruit, which he was being paid by the producer of the show which was Eddie McGuire, who was being paid by the funds coming out of the AFL, which is partially funded by fines for exceeding the salary cap on administration.
So Eddie would be basically receiving his own club's fine. Could even be considered money laundering.

Or.....

Just be quiet Eddie.

Hate to admit it but Eddie's right.

Eade is a contracted employee being poached in the last week of the league year after most of the employees swapping jobs have already happened. Collingwood are disadvantaged by Gold Coast's delay in finding a new coach.

Collingwood deserve compensation for having to run a job search and possibly relocate a new employee just so they can do a favour to the Gold Coast and to Eade personally.

St Kilda and Port set a precedent for this last year. A low 5 figure sum around 20k should be acceptable. Eddie's dreams of 6 figures are not realistic. But hey aim high.

I kinda see the point and definitely agree that 400k is taking the piss 5 times over.

Isn't there a bit of swings and roundabouts about all this though? One year you are copping it as a result of the "gentleman's agreement" on not holding employees back from superior roles, and the next year you are benefiting from it. Bit of a recurring theme with Ed that he will happily accept all the benefits that flow Collingwood's way but throws the toys out the cot when they are ever even mildly disadvantaged.

Essendon took our list manager halfway through the year when we were in the midst of trying to re-sign key players. s**t happens.

Believe Richardson had a clause in his contract about a senior coaching position.
Eade doesn't.

So we have to pay for Eades replacement and pay a tax on it to the AFL because of the cap on football dept spending.
And the PA supporters are outraged yet demanded money for their club

"Port Adelaide made a similar compensation claim when St Kilda signed contracted Power coaching director Alan Richardson as its senior coach after last year's trade period.

Port initially claimed $150,000 from the Saints"

**** Eddie and **** Collingwood.

Where is our compensation for Phil Walsh. Oh that's right, we have a pair, moved on and got Michael Voss.

If Collingwood is the powerhouse Eddie still thinks they are, they will have candidates beating down the door.

Woah there turbo, might want to check your history before blowing a gasket. Port demanded $150,000 compensation from St Kilda when they appointed Richardson as head coach. They ended up receiving $20,000, the majority of which was paid to GWS as reperations for poaching Shaun Hart.

Collingwood should be able to claim advertising costs, administrative cost for searching for a new manager and also any extra wealth tax costs.

Every club should be able to claim these costs of staff are poached.

Or at a minimum, the AFL should waive the wealth tax that's imposed if personnel move on.

People like you are too stupid to see the bigger picture here.
Eddie successfully brought down the COLA and as a result your club has a better chance at success.
But you are too stupid to think laterally.
Get off it, Eddie having a dig at the cola every 5 minutes isn't why it's being fazed out. It's being fazed out because it's complete rubbish. Eddie is a power hungry tool who thinks Collingwood deserve special treatment, when in reality they don't.
