So what are you saying here? What are Eddie's options? You say to take it up with Eade and Eade alone so that seems to leave Eddie with two options:
a) Hold Eade to his contract and don't let him take the GC job
b) Let Eade walk away and take the job

Eddie would be well within his rights to hold Eade to his contract. Of course, if he did that, then this board would go nuts and Eddie/Collingwood would be the bad guys yet again (heaven forbid we expect our employees to honour their contracts). You seem to be saying that Collingwood should take option b and let their football manager walk away for free at the beginning of November because it's the good bloke thing to do. The difference is losing a football manager versus losing an assistant coach. Before you get up on your high-horse about Sydney losing assistant coaches, Collingwood has too (Watters and Neeld were both part of Collingwood's premiership coaching panel) and didn't bat an eyelid over it IIRC. Losing a football manager is different and much worse, not to mention the shitty timing of it.

Actually, Port Adelaide had a very very similar issue last year, can you let me know how they dealt with it?

It's one or the other you want two bites of the cherry. you either hold him to his contract or suck it up. It's not the AFL's job to compensate you for players and staff leaving. either give him a package that makes him WANT TO STAY, or let him. it's well established that this is how Footy departments are run in the AFL.

God no it would become CollingAFLwood :D
Hmmm I like the sound of that.

What huh, that's not what it is? I've always told my well brain washed kids that the AFL is just there for Collingwood, the rest are bit players! :p

Gotta love Eddie! No really, you do! Cheers

Ed held firm and got his way.

That's leadership.

Got money to cover the costs of readvertising the position, the wealth tax costs associated with paying out components of his contract and a better deal for Collingwood supporters up there.

He's set the precedence other clubs are now sure to follow. Including yours.

Wonder how some posters will react should Eades replacement come from their club.
Will their club point to contracts? Demand compensation? Will the posters condemn their own club?

Being such an influential leader; Eddie should create an environment where employees want to stay.

Trouble is - he has to notice that they are there in the first place.
In Fat Eddies's world, 1. any success is due to him; 2. any failure is anti-Collingwood behaviour and 3. in the case of 2, they should be compensated.

Collingwood have 14 matches at the MCG in 2015. In their last 8 matches, only 1 is outside Victoria.
Time for some compensation for interstate clubs, eh Eddie?

In the last 5 years the Hawks have lost Dimma to Richmond, Simpson to West Coast, Cameron to GWS. Sometimes in the middle of finals campaigns. And no one gives a s**t because everyone knows that is simply how it works. Geelong have lost plenty as well, even the pies have.

Everything is pretty much a pathway to a senior coaching job, and when a senior job comes up assistants and footy managers and who ever else should be free to take those positions.

For a club that turns over $70-80m a year to squabble over $50k is just petty.

Collingwood have lost plenty as well i don't think that's the issue

Issue is GC should have had this sorted a week after the season ended but they have been incompetent which has now effected Collingwood

Any fool can cherry pick sections of the the draw and trot out stats to suit their purpose. Displays laziness and intellectual dishonesty. Could equally say Pies have tough last 4 matches: Sydney, Richmond, Geelong, Essendon, or Sydney have cushy run coming into finals: GWS, Saints, Gold Coast ( at SCG). So what?

No doubt if the Pies had only 1 match outside Vic in first 8 matches, or an easy middle section of the draw, you would have then trotted that out to justify your disingenuous small minded prejudices.

Anyway you're off topic again. Feel free to create a separate thread though. BF desperately needs another Collingwood thread.

Isn't the week before trade week worse? And the middle of finals is the worst of all - cats Sanderson, Hawks one or two. There is never a good time.

Back stabbed him but kept him on Channel 9? Wow, sharp observation.

Fat Eddie had a taste of leadership and failed miserably - just like he is doing with Collingwood.
Didn't fail with getting COLA removed :)

14 MCG matches? Your homeground.
This is a massive advantage for your club.
If you play 2 finals and a grand final, that's 17 games for Collingwood at their homeground.

Yet, all we have heard in years is Fat Eddie attacking my club, whining about inequality.

This is why this tool is regarded with such contempt.
