…and then I said See You at the party Richter! ahahahaha

Welcome back. The counting for the Broken medal is moments away but firstly the Roys would like to welcome the newest Roys FFC Life member.

This player was the inaugural Roys FFC Best and Fairest winner, he was captain in seasons 3 and 7 and is a two time leading club goal kicker. He has played the 2nd most games for the Roys (only a few games shy of fellow life member Fat Pizza ) and celebrated his 250th SFA game this season.

Congratulations Roylion on receiving Life membership for the Roys.

The next award is the Yippyio award. Given to the Roys leading goalkicker for the season. For the second year running this award goes to Fred for his tally of 51 goals. Congrats Fred.

Now for the Broken medal count.

ROUND 1
The opening match of Season 16 saw the Roys head down to Flushing Meadows to take on the new Royals outfit who were chomping at the bit to taste some SFA action. The Roys had two debutants in fitzroybulldog and Silent Alarm and we were hoping their inclusion would help put to an end a run of 4 straight round 1 defeats. DickyFitzwell and Fred got the Roys off to a quick start and had contributed 1 goal 3 between them to have us up by 1 point at the midpoint of the first quarter. Kooka and Silent Alarm were manning the fort down back but the Royals managed to crawl out to a 6 point lead at the first change, despite the mammoth first quarter efforts of fitzroybulldog.
He continued to power on kicking his second, and the first of the new quarter, to draw us within a point. The Royals skipped marginally ahead before Dicky Fitzwell banged home his 2nd and 3rd in quick succession to give the Roys a 3 point advantage. Slax and Mobbenfuhrer were solid across half back and Reardo and Freakie kept rebounding it back in to our forward half, as we entered the gaudy clubrooms 5 points ahead. Players were complaining at the sunshine glaring off the new stadium, but with the sun slowly setting hopes were that this wouldn't be a problem.
Fred and Dicky Fitzwell continued keeping the scoreboard ticking over and fitzroybulldog kicked his 3rd which was answered by 1 goal 2 to the Royals and they now had a slight 2 point lead. 20 minutes in to the quarter the lights came on as the sun had set behind the stadium, the Roys also turned on the lights as Fred and fitzroybulldog goaled in addition to 3 behinds to close out the quarter with a 13 point lead.
The backline toughened up in the 4th as kooka and royboy29 helped shut down the Royals as Fred, with his 3rd and 4th goals, and Royboy2 added majors to help us trot to a 37 point lead before the Royals scored a few late goals to narrow the lead to the eventual 26 point victory total.
This was a great all round effort from the Roys and hopefully a sign of things to come. fitzroybulldog was brilliant on debut and with so many good contributions some people were unlucky to miss out on the votes. ROYS 14.14.98 Royals 10.12.72

ROUND 2
We were in rare air having won the first game of the season, but a second road game in a row awaited against a Furies team who are always tough to beat. In the blink of an eye the Furies had jumped out to a 2 goal lead. Reardo helped peg back one of them, but the furious Furies onslaught kept coming. Slax was battling hard to repel the yellow and black attack, but they still managed to jump out to a 19 point lead midway through the term. Fitzroybulldog continued his awesome start to the season and was influential across half forward, as was killer, and we answered with 2 goals 2 behinds before Mobbenfuhrer stamped his impact on the match to put us 5 points up. Broken was finding a lot of the ball in the middle and we took a 2 goal lead in to the first break.
Some great defending from flea29 and DickyFitzwell set up a goal to start the 2nd quarter and we managed to keep the Furies at arms length for most of the quarter. They bounced back to within 1 point, but we finished the half off strong with goals to Ed_Gein and royboy2. Taking a 15 point lead with us at the half. The coach was pleased with the work of Ed_Gein, Reardo and Carn the Roys! in that term and called for others to match their efforts.
That seemed to inspire the team as 3KZ and Fred kicked the first two goals of the 3rd quarter to take our lead to 27. The Furies kicked to goals with killer slotted one between theirs to close it to 21, but a 4 goal run, culminating in Freds 250th career SFA goal saw the Roys with a 45 point lead. Once the adoring fans finally returned to their seats after congratulating their hero the scoring slowed down but still had the Roys 50 points up at the last change.
With a largely unchanged team from last season the Roys veterans knew that a 50 point lead going in to the last quarter is no certainty and despite getting out to a 59 point lead, hearts must have been beating faster as the Furies scored an unanswered 4 goals 1. Carn the Roys! put a halt to that run with a behind and point and Cheetah and Fatty Lumpkin closed out the game with goals as we stormed home with a 47 point win and celebrated in style with the Gorillagram someone bought for Freakies birthday. ROUND 3
Spirits were high as we were on top of the ladder after 2 rounds and we were playing our first game of the season against the other expansion side in the Swamprats. The crowd was buzzing with the prospect of two undefeated teams in battle, plus a Swedish air of festivities as the Roys hosted a Swedish Day for partons at the BJO.
As expected from two undefeated teams the early going was hard and tough fitzroybulldog and 3KZ is Football were battling hard to keep the Roys in it and Slax was busting his butt in the backline.
6 minutes in the Roys had a 6 point lead, but in a sign of trends to come, the Swamprats put on a huge scoring run – shutting out the Roys in the process – with 9 scoring shots, fortunately it was only 3 goals 6 and we only trailed by 18 points after one.
The ‘rats got off to a quick start Roys fought hard to get the lead back to 18 points by the 6 minute mark, but in a repeat of the first quarter the Roys scoring stopped as we fell behind by 38 points. Reardo was working hard and kicked a goal near the end of the half, but we still trailed by 44 after two quarters.
Things went from bad to worse for the Roys supporters, not only did they see their team enter the major break trailing by a large amount. The Viking Pillaging display got out of control and the match had to be delayed for almost 4 hours as order was restored.
In unprecedented scenes the Roys and Swamprats players spent time exchanging barbs, unfortunately the Roys should have spent more time making a comeback as the ‘rats 4 goals 6 to take a commanding 74 point lead. A goal to Reardo followed by 4 Roys behinds cut the gap to 64 by the end of 3 quarters, but by this time the Roys fans had admitted defeat and were turning their attentions to the Swedish Sauna team.
The Roys were determined to cut the ‘rats lead one point at a time as we opened the fourth quarter with our 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th behind in a row before Ed_Gein booted a major to close the gap to 9 goals. That didn’t sit well with our opponents who shut us out after that and romped away to a 72 point bludgeoning. ROYS 7.11.53 Swamprats 17.23.125

Come wit me if you wanna find out who won the Ptizzle medal.

This award is given to the Roys Best First Year player. Named in honour of PTIzzle who sizzled through his debut season a couple of seasons back.
In a shallow field we saw fitzroybulldog, Silent Alarm and DREAM TEAM BUFF make their debuts for the Roys this season.
With DREAM TEAM BUFF joining the club late in the season and Silent Alarm being silent all season fitzroybulldog was far and away the best first year player, quickly establishing himself as one of the Roys most active and consistent posters for the entire season. Well done fitzroybulldog!

I’m Arnold Schwarzenegger and let’s continue with the Broken medal count.

No you can accept an offer any time you want. When to announce it was the floggy part.

No you misunderstood. Last night whilst I was out drinking I asked Duggs to announce it today/tonight.

100% on me.

ROUND 4
After the humiliation of last week the Roys were going to find it tough to bounce back against the reigning premiers at their home ground, however an undefeated record on the road has us confident. Adding extra incentive was that it is was the 100th game for killer, however his absence from his planned personal appearances during the week had many puzzled.
Unfortunately it seemed as though killer wasn’t the only absent one as the Wonders bolted out of the gate with a goal, followed by a behind, which preceeded 7 straight goals to the Wonders. Two more behinds to the Wonders saw them bolt to a 51 point lead before the Roys scored their first point of the game. Two goals closed out the term for the Roys, but we were in dire straits.
At the break a wag in the crowd offered encouragement “If they can kick 8 in a quarter, so can you”. Cheetah took that on board and kicked the first goal of the term, but it seemed like the Roys also heard that wags other gem “You can turn your piss in to beer” as, while distracted by the possibilities, they offered no resistance while the Wonders piled on 5 more goals. Cheetah scored again, this time a point, but by the half the deficit was a massive 67 points.
More ineptitude followed as the Wonders increased their lead to 81 points with the Roys only managing 2.1 in that quarter and were hardly firing a shot over the ground.
The message for the last term was to try and win the quarter which the Roys managed to do by 23 points through solid work by Ed_Gein and Fred, but it was more a result of the Wonders apathy to the contest (sending txt messages, chatting up the crowd, turning their back to watch the races on the big screen) than any new found ability by the Roys.
Two massive losses in a row has undone the good start to the season and the Roys need to find that spark from the first two weeks. ROYS 11.7.73 Wonders 20.11.131

Last night I insisted on today as I had already told you guys.

ROUND 5
It was a tough week on the training track this week after two pumpings in our last two games. A solid week on the track and a home game against the Demons had the Roys ready to get back on the winners list.
We managed to get some semblance of consistency as we repeated last weeks start, scoring nothing while our opponent racked up scores. In a scene not unfamiliar with Demons teams boos cascaded down on the players and the Roys could have easily put the cue in the rack. However thanks to Dicky Fitzwell and Ed_Gein the Roys rallied to get within 7 points before the Demons extended their lead to a 15 point gap after one quarter.
With a sniff of a competitiveness we opened the quarter with a Dicky Fitzwell goal, but the Demons had scouted us well and went on a scoring romp all to familiar to Roys opponents. The 5 goal 5 behind stretch the Demons put together had us down by 44 points half way through the period. Our training had paid off and we were able to cope with the onslaught and fought back to within 19 points before the Demons pushed it out to 26 by the halftime break.
A fiery halftime address had the Roys barging out of the changerooms and goals by pantskyle, Reardo and Fred to open the half had the Roys within 8 points. It seemed as all that effort to get almost level had taken it’s toll as the Demons then scored 27 unanswered points, before a late Roys behind, and they had a 34 point lead after 3.
The Demons continued their scoring onslaught pushing the lead out to 55 points midway through the last term. Consolation goals to pantskyle and fitzroybulldog saved a small amount of face, but another drubbing was on the cards. ROYS 14.3.87 Demons 20.17.137
