2023 Premiership Season - Round 1

SWANS OPEN ACCOUNT WITH NARROW WIN

Sydney has started the 2023 season on a high with a nail biting six point win over St Kilda. In a match that saw five injuries and two reports, the Swans came from 10 points down at the last break to win by a kick. Robert Lindauer booted four goals in his first match for Sydney since crossing from Geelong but also found himself on report with Sebastian Garret also facing weeks on the sidelines. Michael Mace's anticipated debut went according to plan, collecting 14 disposals, taking six marks and having 24 hitouts, beating his opponents. The midfield also seemed to be in fine form with Mackay, Conroy, Roach and Ferguson all picking up over 20 disposals.

SYDNEYS TALL TIMBER DESTROYS PORT ADELAIDE

Last year's wooden spooners Port Adelaide were no match for a rampant Sydney who had 16 goals contributed by its tall forwards in Single, Luck and Potter. They booted 25 in total as the Swans recorded a massive 68 point victory over the Power and had seven players collect 20 or more disposals. An impressive 65 inside 50s helped the Swans to the huge win while they also won the clearances.
