I was going through random West Coast stats on the wiki page when I noticed the Eagles team of the decades for 1996 and 2006 and it got me thinking, the 2016 team will be announced at the end of the season.

1996 Team
Backs:
David Hart Michael Brennan Ashley McIntosh
Half Backs: Guy McKenna Glen Jakovich John Worsfold
Centres: Peter Matera Dean Kemp Chris Mainwaring
Half Forwards: Brett Heady Mitchell White Craig Turley
Forwards: Chris Lewis Peter Sumich Tony Evans
Ruck: Ryan Turnbull Don Pyke Dwayne Lamb
Interchange: Chris Waterman Steve Malaxos Peter Wilson

T20 2006 Team
Backs:
David Wirrpanda Ashley McIntosh Michael Brennan
Half Backs: Guy McKenna Glen Jakovich John Worsfold (Captain)
Centres: Peter Matera Dean Kemp Chris Mainwaring
Half Forwards: Brett Heady Mitchell White Chris Lewis
Forwards: Phillip Matera Peter Sumich Tony Evans
Ruck: Dean Cox Chris Judd Ben Cousins
Interchange: Chris Waterman Drew Banfield Don Pyke
Dwayne Lamb
Coach: Michael Malthouse

Who would you see coming into the side. Glass surely, but what about Kerr and would Priddis buck BigFooty trend and find himself in there as well?

LeCras to a forward pocket (Tony Evans out, as much as I loved the big game specialist)? Mitchell White might survive the cut, but it won't be long before JK overtakes him as the CHF.
Who was better, Kerr of Banfield? I'd say Kerr....
I just don't know who comes out for Glass. We've had so many amazing backmen in the clubs history. Maybe a gig on the bench?

Agree, Glass JK Kerr Lecras must come in - Evans, White, Brennan, Banfield out.

Malthouse out. Woosha can captain coach. :)
Brennan for Glass.
White for Kennedy.
Waterman out, Evans to bench, Lecca in.
Pyke or Banfield out for Kerr. Im going to go Pyke on the fact he played half the amount of games as Banfield did, plus I like the fact Banfield bridged both flag eras.

T30 2016 Team
Backs:
David Wirrpanda Darren Glass Ashley McIntosh
Half Backs: Guy McKenna Glen Jakovich John Worsfold (Captain)
Centres: Peter Matera Dean Kemp Chris Mainwaring
Half Forwards: Brett Heady Josh Kennedy Chris Lewis
Forwards: Phillip Matera Peter Sumich Mark LeCras
Ruck: Dean Cox Chris Judd Ben Cousins
Interchange: Andrew Embley Drew Banfield Daniel Kerr
Matt Priddis
Coach: Michael Malthouse

There you go this has to be the team.

OMG just OMG.

I would have Evans over Pyke every day of the week over Priddis. Big game players who have won on the big stage.

Yeah Priddis is a tricky one given there's already Kemp, Judd, Cousins, Kerr... Depends if you want it to be a realistic team or just the best mids like the AA team.

Hard to see Embley being included considering he wasn't in the 2006 side and tapered off pretty badly later in his career.

Evans gets a bit of a free pass though because he retired early.

hmmm.

As much as everyone on here will carry on, you can't leave out the brownlow medallist. To talk about big game players, I think the norm smith medallist has also earned his spot. JK, Kerr, glass other definates with Lecras a chance

Would Woewodin make the Melbourne version?

No.

And priddis shouldn't make ours.

This has bugged me. I thought once he retired he would be gone but I see he is going to be a blight on our side even after retirement.
He could even be a midfield coach at our team. Just think of that. How could he demand the midfielders dispose of the football properly haha.
I would bring in a few videos and say you didn't.

Problem is with these hypothetical teams you look at them and go 'well would Sumich have prospered today?'. I'm not sure he would have, the game is markedly different so it becomes a discussion of quantity of old vs quality of modern (e.g. Sumich vs JJK, who is a better fit for 2016? Do you leave Sumich out, and put a resting ruck at FF because that's modern day practice?).

that's a very dumb point. The Brownlow is a joke of a medal and has been getting worse value in it every year it goes on. Just because he won that stupid award doesn't mean s**t when it comes to our best 22 ever.

Priddis is not a chance in hell to be in our team of the century and its embarrassing to even suggest that. you my friend have no idea

Turley was only great for one season (1991) and good in a only a couple more. You need to be great for a longer period of time to get a gig on this team.

For instance he finished 2nd in the Brownlow with 20 votes in 1991. In all his other years with us he had 10 votes total.
