Few days old now but Paine giving up the VC step is a big move. Must realise that higher honours in regards to captaincy are past him and just wants to focus on his cricket which hopefully works.

Doolan is going to VC, Bailey still C so most of the time one or the other will be available to captain.

Is Silk the new VC? Seemed to be captaining over Doolan against the Scottish.

Wow. Wouldn't be surprised if we lose. Joke of a ground for this level. As much as we love big hitting its just too easy.
i dont get the ground, its to small for fc cricket, to small for AFl, its oval in shape which makes it a shite seeing ground for Rugby and Soccer:confused:
yet it manages to get so much attention, continues use & money spent on its maintance

The Swans played Essendon on NSO for some pre-season matches from around 2000 - 2002.

15 a side. :D

Wells seems to have improved, but he is making an art form of falling short of 50.

Scores this season (F-C):
37. 43, 46, 47*, 6, 43, 47.

269 runs @44.83 with no score above 47.

what's the story with Butterworth? Been playing futures league. Would have thought two games was enough to be selected, or has has been overlooked for the first XI? Might be starting to get on in age but still would've thought he's first choice paceman?

Came to the thread to ask this exact question, I know he had injury trouble last year but surely with his record he comes in when fit?
Love him, get him in!

Super weird because there's nothing about him anywhere, perhaps he's taking a more mentoring role or his body is shot?

Well done to the Tassie girls, knocking off the strong NSW side yesterday in a one-dayer.

http://live.cricket.com.au/#/5037/13/overview

I would guess this is their first win over NSW. They knocked Victoria off recently in a 20/20, probably their first win over them as well.

It's good to see the girls starting to make their presence felt after a pretty tough introduction to the game nationally.

Heather Knight seems to have been a brilliant pick up for them.

Eddie Cowan has retired effective immediately. Moving back to Sydney.

From CA:

But then this tweet suggest he hasn't 'retired':

Next season they have a potential top 7 of:

Carters
Cowan
Watson
Maddinson
Patterson
Henriques
Nevill

That's close to the best in the shield. And with Watson and Henriques they could afford to play 2 spinners on pretty much any ground, so hopefully they recruit Muirhead and develop him like Victoria wouldn't.
