I'm currently researching to find out about all the TFL/TSL matches and other Tasmanian footy matches (non-AFL) that ended up being televised. Here's a list of what I and others have found so far.

Only got Glenorchy v Burnie from 1993, and that's all sadly. You can get that game along with most other games telecast by the ABC from the ABC for $55 each plus $5.50 postage.

The ABC (Channel 2 - Hobart) opened in June 1960. I think a few weeks later there was a Amateur League (North vs South) match in Hobart which was shown live. For a few years from then on amateur football was shown on the local Saturday afternoon Sportsview programme every so often. Senior leagues refused permission for their matches to be shown, so ABC successfully negotiated with Amateur League officials !

1968 State Grand Final - New Norfolk vs Scottsdale (shown on Channel 3 - Nthn Tas only) as match was played at North Hobart, the southern ABC station wasn't allowed to show until later in day.

1974 unofficial "State Grand Final" - Nth Tas Challenge match really - City-South (NTFA premier) vs Burnie (NWFU premier)

early to mid 1980s TNT 9 (now Sthn Cross) filmed a number of Nthn Tas Grand Finals (both NTFA & NWFU) and replayed them. Will try and clarify exactly which years and teams involved.

That is good. Will see what I can find. The NTFA minutes 1940 - 1986 exist at the Queen Victoria Museum & Art Gallery's History Centre so will try and track down when that association first allowed coverage beyond news clips.

early to mid 1980s TNT 9 (now Sthn Cross) filmed a number of Nthn Tas Grand Finals (both NTFA & NWFU) and replayed them. Will try and clarify exactly which years and teams involved.

Just adding to the 1968 state grand final, just checked on microfilm and the game had a direct telecast in full on TNT-9 as well from 2pm with a half hour preview of the game from 12.30pm.

Only got Glenorchy v Burnie from 1993, and that's all sadly. You can get that game along with most other games telecast by the ABC from the ABC for $55 each plus $5.50 postage.

Yeah I know, it's really overpriced indeed. Imagine the prices WIN would make you pay if you wanted an old TFL game from them, if you were able to make that sort of enquiry, it would cost an absolute fortune. Also even if I can afford to buy a few games, the ABC doesn't give the option of PayPal payment, so that sucks if you don't have a credit account, and you live outside Hobart.

I'd be more willing to pay for more games if they charged $25 maximum less postage and if they offered PayPal as a payment option instead of having to give credit card details over the phone all the time.

Yeah I don't think I've ever seen the 1989 Tasmania v Victoria State Of Origin game on 'Name A Game' either. From what I've seen on YouTube of a small part of this game, the Tassie side did have a pretty good first half, but yeah as you pointed out, the Big V then proved just too good after half time. The Vics definitely didn't see what was coming in 1990 and much of the 1991 clash as well at North Hobart before they came back somehow from about 5 goals down and won.

Just updated the 1988 telecasts with a correction to the Round 1 clash from Hobart v New Norfolk to Clarence v Burnie, and the adding of games up to the end of June including two state games with Tasmania versing the Queensland and VFA sides. Also just updated the finals telecasts for that season. Still some rounds missing between April and June with the TV guides I've researched not including the teams playing in the televised games for those rounds.

The ABC did run a program called 'Who Won, Why?' throughout the season, though at just 15 minutes a show from 7.15pm, I can't confirm whether anything other than perhaps panel discussion was broadcast on the show at this time.

The Round 11, 1992 match between Nth Launceston and Clarence at York Park was the first TFL match broadcast in its entirety live on ABC Television.
Previous to that it was a Live Last Quarter with a replay the following morning.
As a consequence of live broadcasting the entire match, it was the first round of TFL football since the War to attract under 1,000 spectators to each match.

Who Won & Why at one stage was hosted by university fourth's player and ABC Hobart based jorno Tim Lane before he headed to the mainland, I can also can remember maybe Nunkey Ayers, Jim Wilkson being on the show. Was a review of the three TFL games played that day if my memory serves me right?

Yes I recall "Who Won, Why?" being on ABC on a Saturday evening leading into the news in the days of the old TANFL prior to Statewide Football in 1986.
I seem to recall, and bear in mind that I'm going back over 30 years ago, but I think Roger Wills (a commentator for ABC Radio in Adelaide for the past two decades or more) might've hosted it.
Peter Gee also was on it, he commentated TANFL games in the mid-1980s.
It was also replayed on Sunday morning.
