Where are you getting these list stats from?

I fail to see how my team can be the same average age as Melbourne's list and still be in another position to challenge for a flag in 2014.
Are you using best 22 average age or are using the entire 45+ squad average age?

You have to take into account the list changes that have occured since the last game.

Chapman, Corey, Pods, etc delisted for Geelong, Bernie Vince in for Melbourne.

Goes to show how overrated so called 'young lists' are. It's just a way of saying ' yeah, we had a s**t couple of years but we got young talent coming through' just buying time talk IMO.

Does Essendon's include Dustin Fletcher? Surely not!

I'm not sure you have worked them out correctly. I just used the data from the crows website for the senior list, copied and pasted into excel and worked out their age there.

Crows average age: 24.08
Did the same with Hawthorn to check: 24.36
Suns: 23.16
Cats: 23.45
Swans: 24.67

Thats with the senior player data direct from the team website

Bloody hell, I didn't realise how young the Cats squad is.

Surprised by that to be honest. I thought we'd be at least in the top 2 oldest lists in the competition. Although we did lose Guerra (31) Bailey (27) Franklin (27) Ellis (26) Osborne (31) so that probably brought the average down a bit.

Is this just done with the entire list? It skews things a lot depending on how many rookies you have on your list and how old they are, etc. A team could have a pretty old best 22 but if they have a full list of rookies and international rookies that are young but won't even play a game in the coming season then it will make the average age of the entire list a lot lower.

Would be more interesting to see the average age of the best 22 + 3 to 4 others on the list that will likely play more than 6 games or something. An indication of the age of players who will actually take to the field in the seniors.

I just did it for the senior list, no rookies.

Even then there are some speculative picks on most teams senior lists. Guys that have been on there for years that have yet to play a game and may very well never end up doing so.

I know but it was much faster to just copy and paste the senior list into excel and work it out rather than go through each team individually and work out how long people have been on the list and their likelihood of getting a game. You also need to look at players that have played lots of games before but are now fringe 22, for the crows I'm talking guys like porplyzia and tambling (not anymore)

Which teams are you referring to in particular? Really curious
