Telstra possibly having issues with Big Footy

We all have the 'possible Telstra issues' message from the Big Footy Tech Team.

Firstly from my perspective there is no 'possibly' about it. I am currently with Big Pond and have had intermittent issues over the past few days. Assuming that nothing has been altered at the Big Footy end I assume Telstra has made changes that have suddenly affected the Big Footy site.

I am not sure about changing to Google DNS as suggested. Unless some thing has changed recently this will mean downloads come via the US rather than my local ISP server. This can have the effect of slowing large downloads considerably. If Google have installed a DNS server in Australia there will not be an issue.

Perhaps some one has more information on this subject?

Changing the DNS server doesn't affect where your downloads come from, DNS is basically a phone book, it just gives your PC the IP address of the URL you're after.
