The 100 Day Warning

100 Day Warning

For some AFL clubs those last 100 days of a season can be all about blooding the youth as coaches, players and fans turn their eyes forward a year in the hope that next year will be different, for some clubs the last 100 days is about finding a way to finals and finding a way to finals wins and for the truly elite clubs the knowledge is that it is the last 100 days when the season really begins. The saying that premierships cannot be won; only lost in April and May has never been more appropriate. For MrTripleC, this 100 days is all about retribution (1). Fresh in the knowledge that a 225 day quest has been failed (2) the next 100 days is about reclaiming respect. About finishing strong. About telling the final stretch towards the 2014 AFL premier.

Define Nine – Round 14
Late in the week the aim at the 100 Day Warning is to break down the matches that really matter in crowning the 2014 premier. These are the must see matches. Come Monday reassessment will be made and it will be about refining nine.

9. St Kilda Vs West Coast – Etihad Stadium Sunday 3.10pm Seven
Oh so many games to choose for the dud of round 14 as the gulf between the top and bottom widens. Realistically though when during the week one team says they are resting a veteran player for a second week in a row and a guy that could be the next club captain goes in for surgery you know that club is looking elsewhere. The sad thing for the other team in this game; they are still underdogs at home. Sadder thing; they are seven goal underdogs. Saddest thing; that might not even be enough.

8. GWS Vs Carlton – Giants Stadium Sunday 1.10pm Fox Footy
Carlton are starting to come across as that ‘no-one’ wants to play us on the road to September. This is despite the fact that Carlton sit anchored to 12th spot with just four wins. Funny thing about those ‘no-one wants to play us teams’; they have a habit of winning the games you expect and losing the games you don’t. Case in point was last Friday night. As for GWS; you just know they have to role Jeremy Cameron out this Sunday. Everyone knows Carlton will make a play for the Giant youngster in the off-season and nothing helps your bargaining power like a bagful of goals.

7. Melbourne Vs North Melbourne – MCG Sunday 4.40pm Fox Footy
In case you haven’t realised by now; this Sunday the football action absolutely stinks. Three clunkers being served up. Husbands and boyfriends this is the weekend to get some browny points. Tell your wife or significant other that they have the choice. Whatever they want to do, you do. Finals aren’t far a way and this is the Sunday to build some finals browny points up. Trust me, you are not missing anything this Sunday. Spoiler alert; West Coast, Carlton and North Melbourne all win.

6. Fremantle Vs Brisbane – Patersons Stadium Saturday 5.40pm Fox Footy
Dirty secret is this is the game of the weekend you really don’t want to watch. It does however have a top four bound team involved and that makes it more important than those aforementioned matches. It is worth reiterating a point from a recent podcast featuring yours truly. If Brisbane get to 50 points in this game their fans should stand up, applaud and leave. That is about the best achievement you can be hoping for in this game.

5. Port Adelaide Vs Western – Adelaide Oval Saturday 1.15pm Seven
First game from the list where excitement should ensure. Both these teams try to play a similar hard running, attacking yet win the contested ball style of play. It is just one team plays it a whole lot better than the other. Some have claimed Port Adelaide were just as much winners in defeat last Saturday. However any good mathematician or second grader can tell you 11 is more than 10. Expect Port Adelaide to get the real win they need with win number 11 this Saturday. If you want an omen for a substitute in this game, go with Matthew Boyd. The Dogs won without him last week; maybe he goes to orange if they fall behind in this one.

4. Richmond Vs Sydney – MCG Friday 7.50pm Seven
The Buddy show rolls back to the MCG and all eyes will be on the number 23. Interesting sub-plot, it has been over 53 minutes of game time since when a Sydney player not named Lance Franklin has kicked a goal. That goal was by Dan Hannebery who won’t play this Friday, go back another two minutes and it is Josh Kennedy who kicked a Sydney goal. As for Richmond they simply look to continue on their historic charge towards greatest one season drop.

3. Essendon Vs Adelaide – Eithad Stadium Saturday 7.40pm Seven
The good ole June elimination final has never rung so true. However the fortunes of these teams could not be at differing points. Adelaide are seemingly on a path towards finals on field while writing the wrongs of off field. As for Essendon whether it is on field or off field the gaping abyss has never looked so large of so dark. Does anyone know if James Hird is back in the country yet? He showed a habit of winning back to the wall games that this Essendon team could most certainly do with.

MUST SEE MATCH OF THE WEEK
2. Gold Coast Vs Geelong – Metricon Stadium Saturday 4.40pm Sevean
It may be number two for games in terms of significance on the season, but it is number one in terms of must see. For possibly the first time since Gary Ablett departed the Cats there is a real true contest between matched teams. While the Gold Coast were disappointed by their loss last weekend it is worth putting into perspective they nearly won a match on the toughest road trip they need to do despite being six goals down at one point. The character is there. As for Geelong the six changes they have made tells you what they think of the Suns. They are a real threat towards their place for top four and could be a tough finals combatant in an Elimination final in less than 100 days.

MOST SIGNIFICANT MATCH OF THE WEEK
1. Hawthorn Vs Collingwood – MCG Saturday 2.10pm Seven
Mega power versus mega power is what Geelong would have you believe. Poor unfortunate versus poor unfortunate is how Hawthorn and Collingwood tried to describe themselves during the week. On field Hawthorn has a brutal run home starting with this match against Collingwood. Significantly though they have managed to retain the key personnel they need to maintain that run towards September with Brian Lake and Jack Gunston the start of a host of stars set to return over the coming month. As much as experts are calling this a must win for Collingwood’s final four tilt, Hawthorn need it just as much because there are potential slip ups the whole way through the last two months. For Collingwood this is about proving a point over last weeks embarrassment. The last time they were embarrassed was round one this year. They bounced back pretty strongly from that one.

Footnotes:
1. Think of me like a one man San Antonio Spurs hell bent on avenging defeat.
2. And just quietly a disastrous coaching season.

Well obviously 2014 was an epic failure in trying to complete The 225 Days. However with a few football commitments winding down the opportunity is back to try a brand new project. Remarkably and conveniently today marked 100 days until the Grand Final. So alas, a new project is born. 100 Day Warning as we count down to the big one. In advance I will admit that this will be a little bit different to some of my previous work; but hopefully all 'The 225 Dayers' can get behind the '100 Day Warning'. Never let it be said I can't create a new idea from seemingly nothing.

As always thanks for reading and the support and a special thanks to all the MTC fans out there that expressed best wishes over my two month hiatus. Bring on 99.

Hey! Screw you! Melbourne will win!

Great work TC. I always enjoy reading your posts. You seem pretty pessimistic about what the season holds for the Eagles. With that in mind, I have another idea for you. How about you just follow the Eagles for the rest of the season. You could call it the "100 Day Waning."

99 Day Warning

Split it in three and there are three lots of 33 days until the premier will be crowned. Much like a young couple starting the journey towards parenthood these 99 days (1) will be full of joy, wonder and sleepless nights for a range of fans, coaches and players in the league. And like every pregnancy three trimesters make up the miracle that is child birth. As for the 100 Day Warning the start of each trimester seems an appropriate time as any to assess just who the real premiership contenders are.

Trimester One’s Premiership Contenders

Sydney (25%)
A forward line with Kurt Tippett, Sam Reid, Adam Goodes and Lance Franklin is always going to pull headlines so much so that little things aren’t being appreciated in this premiership tilt by Sydney. There defence has been outstanding all season long to rank top two. The midfield has continued to outperform by being to win the contested ball and like Geelong in past years they are finding a way to rejuvenate the list by getting experience into kids. Nearing in on 10 straight wins, they are the premiership favourites with 99 days to go.

Fremantle (20%)
History tells us that you have to finish top four to be a premiership threat. While Fremantle sit outside the four right now after what is becoming a typically slow start to the season, they are beginning to find form when it matters most. They are timing there run perfectly with a soft run towards finals and will likely be top four when it matters most. Next step will be top two. For Fremantle top two is as big a get as for any of the top five contenders. That top two is still in play. If they need retribution stories, they have a good one in the San Antonio Spurs. Ross, need Patty Mills number?

Hawthorn (15%)
History is not kind to Hawthorn with it being over 10 years since the last repeat premier. They are still in the mix but are fighting hard against injury and form to remain amongst the top contenders. Not unlike Fremantle they are getting players back at the right time; however very unlike Fremantle they have a brutal end to the season. If they can somehow finish top two with the games they have remaining they will head into finals as your premiership favourite.

Port Adelaide (15%)
They have proven themselves and are a genuine premiership contender. They have players that have both experienced grand final joy and grand final heartache. They have a coaching group that also knows the highs and lows of grand final day. Also consider that since 2001 they are one of only seven teams to win the premiership. Four of those seven have won multiple flags; the Power could very well become the fifth.

Geelong (10%)
They continue to tease during the premiership season with some scintillating displays mixed in with some underwhelming wins. The biggest issue for Geelong is other than when they play Hawthorn in September that feeling of underwhelming remains. Their best hope of making it back to that last Saturday in September is running through Hawthorn at some point.

Collingwood (5%)
Still a sneaky shot at the top four which is where you need to be. The run home is tough, but by the same token if they can navigate that run they will belong among the contenders. It appears to be a five way race for the premiership; but Collingwood are the only other legitimate shot.

Adelaide (3%)
Right now they sit outside the eight and would have to break recent history to even make the finals as that history has said changes to the eight this late in the season are rare (2). However as the only team to win the flag from outside the top four since becoming a final eight, their own club history is on their side. That 3% represents 97, 98 and perhaps 14.

North Melbourne (2%)
They say you have to lose a grand final to win one. North Melbourne is just hoping that losing a final is an omen to winning one. After being humiliated in finals over the past five years, in particular two years ago, a finals win; any finals win could be the start of something.

Gold Coast (1%)
That 1% is for Gary Ablett doing the unbelievable and changing the way the AFL is looked at. For Gold Coast to have any hope Ablett will need to play the greatest finals series ever played. It is in his genes for greatest ever finals series; but even his father couldn’t take the flag in 89.

West Coast (1%)
They still could play in the most important premiership season match of the year with Gold Coast on the schedule in round 23. That could still theoretically be a week early elimination final.

Carlton (1%)
Remember when some idiot predicted these guys to finish top four. Moving on, nothing to see here.

Western (0.994%)
Next to know chance. The number seems funny, but will make sense soon.

Melbourne (0.666%)
It still cannot be proven that Paul Roos has made a deal with the devil to make Melbourne a finals team. Demons, devils, Roos, it kind of makes sense right.

Essendon (0.34%)
As the handful of teams above Essendon have no chance at the flag. Thought it was worth being really cruel to rub in the 34 reasons why they are no chance again in 2015.

GWS (0%)
No chance at the flag, and closing in on mathematical elimination. At least they are looking less and less likely of a third consecutive wooden spoon.

Richmond (Knifed)
Get the utensils out; anyone ready for a serve of Damien Hardwick.

Brisbane (Forked)
And it might be short term but Brisbane certainly have been forked by one Michael Voss and regime.

St Kilda (Spooned)
Finally ladies and gentleman your wooden spoon favourite. As it has been for the past 118 seasons, your 2014 St Kilda Saints.

Footnotes:
1. I can hear every woman who reads this saying. You just compared a football season to pregnancy?!? Boy I feel sorry for MrsTripleC.
2. Barring drug scandals of course.

As always appreciate the well wishes and the warm reception towards the new concept of the 100 Day Countdown. In order of appearance:

SP,
Three Ton Kano is doing good. Angry Birds will return this Tuesday with TTK looking at a penguin hunter style comeback.

Syl,
You may be right, but hey for mine I think Sunday's games are set for a let down.

Marlin,
For me, I think West Coast are already looking towards 2015. Some of the recent decisions and decisions likely to come are of a side that is preparing a side that can make a long waited deep finals run in 2015 or beyond.

BV,
I concur, the Marlin idea of Waning is fantastic. Could add Richmond, Brisbane, GWS, Western and St Kilda to that list of waning.

CH,
Cheers for the well wishes and it is good to be back!

96 Day Warning

Refine Nine

Following discussions on the Mike To Cam Show; find updated Refine Nine for Round 14 factoring in strength of game importance and match play itself.

9. Fremantle 105 d Brisbane 22 (Down 3)

Only one point in a half and a match that has correctly been described as boys against men. While a dominate win against a wooden spoon contender should not be seen as the proof we need to proclaim Fremantle a premiership threat, the reality is that is the way the talk has gone.

8. Sydney 62 d Richmond 51 (Down 4)

It does not even seem right to call what was dished up on Friday night as football. How Richmond can believe they are learning anything about their list with games played in that mode is unthinkable. As for Sydney think back to 2005 for a brief moment, all it takes to win, all it takes to finish top four. Still on track.

7. West Coast 103 d St Kilda 70 (Up 2)

It may have been only the fourth time this year that both West Australian sides have won on the same weekend and helped to set up a somewhat intriguing derby, but West Coast's performance was hardly the domination that was expected. The Eagles will take any away win they can while St Kilda can be buoyed by claiming another rising star award in Jack Billings whose 25 possessions came at a 100% clip.

6. North Melbourne 107 d Melbourne 66 (Up 1)

See above. Sunday promised to be a dull day and while the Giants surprised, in this game it was Bernie Vince turning back the clock for a career day that kept the most intrigue. Sadly North went to shutdown mode on Vince in the second half which cost what could have been a historic day. Alas not to be with North keeping their top four hopes alive the only real win from the day.

5. Port Adelaide 128 d Western 56 (Unchanged)

The under-looked element of this game, Port drew over 34,000 for a game against a low drawing Victorian club. An Adelaide home Showdown this week, yet with the sentiment towards the Power could it be that Port fans outnumber the Crows fans at this match?

4. GWS 100 d Carlton (Up 3)

The real upset of the weekend with Shane Mumford inspiring the Giants to a stunning eight point win. With the exception of a win over Sydney in round one this year, this could be seen as the Giants best win and a historic day as they passed their win total for the past two years combined. Slowly but surely they are on the right track, as for Carlton what track they are even on is a bit of an unknown.

3. Hawthorn 115 d Collingwood 86 (Down 2)

Three big games from last weekend were headlined by a match which probably went a long way to finishing discussions on the top four. Hawthorn retained their spot in the four on the base of the dynamic football it can play both attackingly and defensively to score and restrict. In the long run Collingwood will take a lot from this 2014 season, a top four spot is not one of them.

2. Essendon 101 d Adelaide 92 (Up 1)

And this match was likely the game that decided the final eight teams that will play finals this year. Essendon theoretically kept their noses in touch with finals, however ongoing drama and a tough draw means this win was meaningless in a bigger picture sense. For Adelaide this was a loss that they could not afford to have. Story of their season, lose when they to win. Win when they expect to lose. Smoky for the Showdown could be the 2014 Adelaide Crows.

1. Gold Coast 118 d Geelong 78 (Up 1)

No ifs. No buts. No maybes. No doubts. This was the biggest win that the Gold Coast have ever had. As for the doomsday theorists at Geelong, the end for the dynasty was at Simmonds Stadium and the MCG last September. This is simply the beginning of their next run. It may not be in 2014 but both these teams are coming.

Ps & Qs

A new piece that is being dual trialled across both 'The 100 Day Warning' and 'Mike-to-Cam Show' is Ps and Qs. That is a proclamation about each AFL team and a question about each AFL team. For this week the top nine teams are featured as part of 'The Warning'.

Question: Will Jarred Witts play in front of 80,000 at the MCG or 80 at Morwell?

North Melbourne:

Proclamation: They have more cult heroes than an 80s TV show.

Question: Will Brad Scott go a week without some form of whinge in the media?

Gold Coast:

......

We Port fans have been waiting for him. He broke his wrist late in the preseason and was put on the LTI list. Last week for Port Magpies he kicked 3 in a windy wet day not great for KFP, but the week before he kicked 6.1 from 8 kicks and excited a lot of Port fans. One of Butcher or Shaw will play a few games before the finals even if Schulz and Westhoff are in the team.

There are 8,000 Adelaide Oval SMA Footy members - approx 5k crows and 3k Port. Those 3k will turn up in the western stand and another 3k to 4k will turn up around the ground.

MrTripleC did you keep up your rate 198 during your sabbatical?? Or were you too busy to watch 9 games a week?

REH,
Sadly I did not keep up the Rate 198 over the middle seven or eight weeks of the year. I have started to try and piece together the list and will work on it over the season. WIll try and get a Rate 198 up just after the season finishes however it is going to take a bit of time to get it right I think. Forget Butcher; Shaw is the man you want. Good luck to your boys and if you are one of those fans cheering the Power on this weekend.

IndyNile,
I think personally Brad Scott is just a very different coach and personality to me and there is something about that which I find rather irritating. Each week in his post match press conference he is overtly agressive or 'whingey' about some topic. Sometimes it is internal about his midfield not working hard enough, his defence conceding cheap goals or his forwards not making the most of their chances. Other times it is external factors like umpiring, fixtures or even general AFL topics. He seems to have an opinion on most things and I find most things he say come off as really complaining or expressing a negative point of view. Again just a personal view and belief and totally understand if North Melbourne fans feel differently as they would see and hear a lot more than him than what I do. The best offer I can add up to make my point is to type Brad Scott Whinge in google or a youtube search. You will have an afternoon's worth of entertainment with it.

Thanks to both you boys for the feedback and indeed to everyone who reads. For those interested keep an eye on Twitter for MrTripleC @MTC_MIKETOCAM.

Any feedback on the current model or any requests for additional pieces to this current format do please let me know. Always willing to take feedback on of the loyal readers to 'The 225'.

94 Day Warning

Define Nine – Round 14
After what on paper looked a dull round 13; the top three matches were able to produce and a couple of upsets left round 13 as a solid round of AFL football. Round 14 ahead and what once was called ‘Rivalry Round’ is now arch rivals battling each other and the AFL ladder for top four, top eight or the avoidance of an up for grabs wooden spoon.

9. Western Vs Melbourne – Etihad Stadium Sunday 1.10pm FOX
For the second weekend in a row, the stinker of the round is on a Sunday afternoon at Etihad Stadium. With a blockbuster Sunday night match has the AFL missed a fantastic marketing opportunity to allow people who hold a ticket to Sunday night’s game free entry to this match? While there may not be any financial benefit for Western and Melbourne I am sure their players would like to play in front of near 50,000 as opposed to the likely 15,000 this match gets.

8. St Kilda Vs Richmond – Etihad Stadium Saturday 2.10pm FOX
Who could have predicted that this would a battle of the spoon clash before the season started. Remarkably though, Richmond almost have to win this match to avoid really being considered a wooden spoon threat. Perhaps even a loss to this St Kilda team would be enough to break the camel’s back and force the Richmond board to move on coach Damien Hardwick. As has been the case over the past three years, the Riewoldt clash looks like being the marquee feature of this match.

7. Brisbane Vs North Melbourne – GABBA Saturday 7.40pm FOX
Some considered last week’s North Melbourne win unglamorous; use the word grind instead. If any team needed to grind a win against a lowly ranked team it was North Melbourne. After getting up for a number of the top teams, North need another win against a bottom team like Brisbane to prove they have the consistency of those other finals contenders. For Brisbane expect them to come out hard in the first quarter as the passion of doing for Browny is played up.

6. Collingwood Vs Carlton – MCG Sunday 7.10pm Seven
This is supposedly the real rivalry of Victoria. However since Mick Malthouse switched allegiance this rivalry somehow seems to have lost luster. Instead of this being built up as a blockbuster both Malthouse and Nathan Buckley seem keen to just treat this as any other match. Embrace the hate boys. This rivalry needs a 2014 kick start and perhaps the new Sunday night timeslot is what was needed for this match.

5. Sydney Vs GWS – SCG Saturday 7.40pm Seven
Unlike the match above, this is a budding rivalry that was taken to a new level by younger brother GWS stunning big brother Sydney back in round one. Boy do Sydney now want revenge. So far GWS have always been competitive in the first Battle of the Bridge but have been poor in the return bout. With two wins on the trot this appears to be the right time for the Giants to put in another improved performance.

MUST SEE MATCH
4. Hawthorn Vs Gold Coast – Aurora Stadium Saturday 1.45pm Seven
After having the best win in their existence last weekend against Geelong; the question is on whether Gold Coast can back it up away from home against Hawthorn. The venue of this match is a big decider in what sort of match can be expected; with Hawthorn’s experience at the expansive Aurora likely to come into play. It could be argued that this is two of the quickest teams going head to head and for that reason it is must see.

3. Fremantle Vs West Coast – Patersons Stadium Saturday 2.40pm FOX
One of three matches coming this weekend where a teams finals ambitions go on the line. West Coast simply have to win this game if they are to play finals football. Meanwhile for the three opponents it is a must win for top four calculations. Fremantle would like to win this game to keep on track for top four. Let’s see. Must win versus like to win. Could a West Coast upset be on the cards? Nah. Better team all the way, Fremantle to do what they need to do.

2. Geelong Vs Essendon – Etihad Staidium Friday 7.50pm Sevean
Unlike the above, this is must win versus must win. For Essendon top eight goes on the line. For Geelong top four goes on the line. The Chapman/Thompson versus Geelong thing has been somewhat underplayed given the ongoing background of Essendon versus ASADA. On field Geelong have been questioned on their ability to stop an opposition midfields run. Essendon have been questioned for not taking the game on more and giving more run. Seems like a game changer right there.

MOST SIGNIFICANT MATCH OF THE WEEK
1. Adelaide Vs Port Adelaide – Adelaide Oval Sunday 3.40pm Seven
This is the best rivalry in the AFL right now. These teams truly do want to beat one another. Add on that again this is a top four contender versus a top eight contender and the stakes are high for both clubs. With over 50,000 South Australians set to be screaming for their team, this could break the AFL record for loudest crowd noise. Port Adelaide have had a Showdown history of somehow finding a way to beat the more fancied big brother Adelaide side. Roles are reversed for this Showdown, can Adelaide return that same surprise win against the Power.

93 Day Warning

Friday’s Fab Five Forecaster Forecast
Another new segment for ‘The 225 Days’ and simulcast on the ‘Mike to Cam Show’ is Friday’s Fab Five Forecaster Forecast. Each Friday MrTripleC is going to give five sometimes serious and sometimes ridiculous predictions for the weekend ahead.

Round 15 Fab Five
1. There is a first time Glendinning Medal Winner
Through history this has been a West Australian stars award with Matthew Pavlich, Paul Haselby, Chris Judd etc... having multiple medals as best on ground in the Western Derby. Earlier this year Lachie Neale took home the award and this is the start of a swing back to role players winning the medal. Expect a first time Glendinning Medallist this weekend.

2. Geelong and Essendon has the closest margin of the round
You get the feeling that Friday night football is going to deliver this weekend. While during the week all the talk has been off-field these are two teams that have had some cracking games in recent seasons. With top four on the line for Geelong and top eight for Essendon this is a big match and should deliver an epic contest.

3. The Riewoldt’s combine for less than 6 goals this weekend
Given recent history Jack would traditionally get this figure on his own. But with Richmond in a state of turmoil and St Kilda the wooden spoon favourite; a high scoring affair is unlikely in this one. For that reason big bags of goals are unlikely and hence a quiet Riewoldt’s game may be the result.

4. A team scores 97 points this weekend
Long story. But it is a shout out to my Nan. Thanks Nan.

5.Brad Scott whinges about the six day break and the travel to Brisbane
Time to put my money up. I did call out Brad Scott about his whinging earlier this week. So let’s see if I really am right and Scott does like to have something to talk negatively about. Not only predicting a whinge but the actual whinge itself.

Enjoy the weekend and keep up with MrTripleC on Twitter @MTC_MIKETOCAM.

Thanks again for the reads and the likes from all the guys out there.

BV,
Will look to do a Q&A session at some point as a column but with time commitments won't have the full fan night availability. I am currently doing a podcast that can be found on soundcloud on a 'Mike to Cam' search or on twitter @MTC_MIKETOCAM and will answer any questions on this podcast.

Again appreciate everyone who reads and inputs. Great to have intelligent talk about the game with knowledgeable footy people.

88 Day Warning

Ps & Qs

On Wednesday's Mike to Cam Show MrTripleC took the top nine teams for his Proclamation and Question. What would his bottom nine been proclaiming and questioning. Read on below:

Western

Proclamation (PS): The Dogs drafting has been among the worst in the league over the past decade.

Question (QS): Who would you tag against the Bulldogs moving forward; Liberatore or Griffen?

Carlton

PS: Forget the Richmond-Port example; Carlton is becoming a feeder system for the Adelaide Crows.

QS: What role would Bryce Gibbs play in a premiership side?

Essendon

PS: Essendon has been just as inconsistent as the highly publicised Adelaide and North Melbourne.

QS: Who would you appoint to be coach in 2015.

Brisbane

PS: James Aish should be the clear and overwhelming Rising Star favourite.

QS: What do you think Tom Rockliff actually said to Brent Harvey on Saturday night?

St Kilda

PS: They need Leigh Montagna and Lenny Hayes to go around again next year.

QS: Where would St Kilda be on the ladder today if they has kept Ross Lyon as coach?

GWS

PS: They will upset Adelaide this weekend.

QS: Will the Giants finally avoid the wooden spoon in 2014?

West Coast

PS: They need an elite small forward then they do an elite midfielder.

QS: Should part of Jeremy McGovern's contract extension been a patent over the nickname 'Governor'?

Melbourne

PS: Melbourne should throw the kitchen sink at Brendon Bolton.

QS: Who has been the Demons best pick up this season?

Richmond

PS: Jake King is the most misunderstood person in the league.

QS: Should Trent Cotchin and Dustin Martin spend more time forward?
