Came to post that video about close. Terrifying stuff.

Pretty sure there's a pic getting around of him after that innings with bruises everywhere.

EDIT: Here's one...

Brian Close was one tough hombre though, which was the main reason he was in the side there at 45.

Baseball legend Yogi Berra has died aged 90, spent 19 years with the Yankess and won 13 word titles as well as 3 MVP's during that time. Was also known for his quotes:

Yogi Berra's greatest quotes

  • It's like deja-vu all over again
  • It ain't the heat; it's the humility
  • Baseball is 90% mental - the other half is physical
  • You give 100% in the first half of the game. And if that isn't enough, in the second half, you give what's left
  • I never said most of the things I said... Take it with a grin of salt
  • If you don't know where you're going, you might end up some place else
  • He hits from both sides of the plate. He's amphibious
  • When you come to a fork in the road, take it
  • I always thought that record would stand until it was broken
  • If the world was perfect, it wouldn't be
  • Always go to other people's funerals, otherwise they won't go to yours

His other contribution was his name was supposedly the inspiration for this guy

Mike Tomolaris just on SBS then said Gibbo was the person who introduced the tour de france to Australian audiences back in the 80's.
