Jordan Henderson - we all know you are hopeless in front of goal but you just have to score there, son. You just have to! That was the chance!:$

Raheem Sterling - get your ******* head up when you run with the ball! There will nearly always be better options around you - use them!:$

Did Lallana really not get a minute of action? That simply beggars belief..

Rodgers pays £25m for him (which I still can't really believe - Adam Lallana for £25m!) and then doesn't use him at all in our two biggest games of the season (Basle at home and Chelsea this morning). :$

Mourinho is a piece of filth and an oxygen thief if he thinks the 1st Costa stamp was accidental. Can wasn't even in the field of play and the ball had gone out of play. He knew exactly what he was doing with the 1st stomp.

Should be a good City win without Costa and Fabregas (you would think). Will be interesting how they hold up without the 2 players who have done everything this season. (Apart from Courtois). ;)

Which one of the three looked accidental?

Also was throwing Gerrard to the ground accidental?

Both were deliberate stomps.. I mean, why the fk did he need to jump for the 2nd one. Disgraceful.

On the Gerrard incident, he also put his hand in his face from behind. The elephant man is exactly that, an elephant! and should be humanely put down.

If we had a clinical striker we would of wrapped up the tie by half time ..

**** FSG Get your head out of the clouds and your hands in your pockets and buy us the striker we so desperately need!

I'm proud of how far we've come in two months. If you look back to how bad we were at the beginning to the end of November to today where we pushed the league leaders at the Bridge and arguably should have won if we buried one of our many chances.

The transformation has been remarkable. Onwards and upwards to the top 4 of the Premier League, dumping manure out of it in the process

Neil Jones says it is in adversity where a team's character will be found out

Liverpool's Steven Gerrard (right) shakes hands with Chelsea's John Terry after the Capital One Cup Semi Final
They say can you really tell a person’s character by how they react in the bad times. Liverpool FC will find out what kind of characters they have in the next few days.

They had their hearts broken at Stamford Bridge, but when the tears dry, lessons must be learned. They will never want to feel like this again.

They could barely have given more, either here or at Anfield. They can be proud of their efforts, and deserved the ovation they got from the 4,000 travelling Reds at the final whistle. They were out on their feet by the end.

But when the dust settles, they must take this experience and use it in a positive manner. No licking their wounds, no feeling sorry for themselves, no hard-luck stories.

They lost this tie because they gave away a soft penalty in the first leg, and because they switched off at a free kick in the second. And because over both games, they lacked the finishing touch which sets the decent sides apart from the successful ones, missing a clutch of big chances to take themselves through.

So can Liverpool, with this team, make the leap from a decent one to a successful one? It’s a big ask, but they have to believe.

If this tie proved anything, it is that Brendan Rodgers has a team that can play and a team that can fight, when it has to. It also set a benchmark for future performances. When a team can play like this, battle like this, excuses will not be tolerated.

Raheem Sterling (20), Philippe Coutinho (22), Jordan Henderson (24), Emre Can (21) could all become major players for the club in the coming months and years. So too Daniel Sturridge, whose return cannot come quickly enough.

Others – Lazar Markovic, Alberto Moreno – have plenty of improvement in them, and will be better for experiencing a night like this, and pain like this. They didn’t hide, even when the going got tough.

For Rodgers, though, the question is simple; can he correct the faults and instil a ruthless, winning streak in his team?

He watched his players match the Premier League leaders over 210 absorbing minutes, so he knows the potential that lies within. He showed last season that he can build a side that can compete with the best.

There have been backward steps since, but they have to stop here. This defeat will hurt badly, and must be learned from, quickly. There are big games to come, in league and in cup, at home and abroad. There are chances to turn a poor season into a successful one. It’s in their hands.

Let’s see what you’re made of, Reds.

Yeah, we are on the cusp I think of really challenging. You can say we have gone backwards from the amazing year we had last season but we sold the 3rd best player on the planet and on top of that Sturridge has pretty much missed the entire season.

While we didnt recruit well enough up front, I think we did recruit well elsewhere. Can, Markovic, Moreno, Lallana have really bolstered the squad. We still lack in some areas but you get the feeling we are one top notch striker from really putting the foot down.

If we say bought Lacazette and Sturridge stays fit. Those two guys up front with AM's like Lallana, Coutinho, Sterling, Ibe, Markovic behind. We will score goals. Goals win games.

There is work to be done but I think we are getting closer.
