The doco gets me really pissed off and really sad at the same time, I feel for the people who took their own lives during that 20 year fight before the truth was finally listened to

In happier news, just checked out results against the bottom 10 sides. We have dropped 9 points, 9 points, in total against the bottom 10. That is insane, basically 20 games, 60 points on offer, only 9 dropped

Just finished watching it and that was my feeling as well. What a gut wrenching doco. An awful tragedy followed by the most appalling behaviour by those in authority at many levels.

Our crowd need to be even more intense this week. Centenary Stand on their feet bullying like the 05 semi

I'm predicting the booing/whistling that happened in the game against City will be at least double in intensity. LFC fans don't have a lot of respect for the nouveau-riche City but they'd have even less for Chelski and rightly so. No doubt we'll hear a few of the favourite chants;

* Off Chelsea FC
You ain't got no history
5 European Cups and 18 leagues
that's what I call history.

Why do I get the feeling we may hear 19 leagues instead.

Posted this in the David Moyes thread but worth a run here too because of how hugely hilarious it is.

Chelsea will field a 2nd string team, but I do believe Torres will play IMO. It will be Mourinho's way to piss everyone off, expect a very negative defensive game too.
I hope he does play. He is utterly shite. Im not even in one of those situations where its "oh he has been so crap, has never scored against Liverpool since he left, would be typical for him to get a winner" because he is soooo utterly abysmal that im really not worried.

Not worried about Torres that is, Chelsea have a good side though and im of course worried overall.

I wanna be in that kind of atmosphere for games but ive now been doing the same ritual with two of my friends before every gaem in this winning run that im afraid to change it. We have the Crown Casino that gets huge crowds for games and also we have a pub that host the official Perth LFC fan club so their are places to go for awesome atmosphere.

But... I must watch it at my friend Kat's house with my mate Dan and Dan and Kat must get Indian food before the game and I must get Nando's because that's what happened before this run started.

The three of us though, alone in a room watching isnt as fun as the pub with the atmosphere and singing. The dilemmas.

Ive just had a look back at MOTD for the previous game between Liverpool and Chelsea to try to get a feel ahead of this coming fixture.

The first thing to take note of is obviously the ground on where it was played. Stamford Bridge is a formidable place to play and at this point they were still never beaten on the ground under Mourinho.

TEAMS

Chelsea lined up like this.

-----------Cech-----------
Ivanovic Terry Cahill Azpi
-------Luiz---Lampard----
Hazard---Oscar---Willian
-----------Eto'o-----------

Schwarzer Cole Essien Torres Mata Mikel Schurrle

Liverpool went in like this.

---------Mignolet-----------
Johnson Skrtel Sakho Agger
-------Lucas---Allen--------
Sterling---Hendo---Coutinho
-----------Suarez-----------

Jones Toure Alberto Aspas Cissohko Smith Rossiter

Looking at those lineups, a few things spring to mind. Chelsea went in pretty much full strength whereas we went into the match without our captain and leader Steven Gerrard, Daniel Sturridge was also injured, as was Enrique and Flanno was yet to be tried so we had Agger as an unorthodox LB.

Sterling was not yet the player he is now and the injuries had piled up so much that we actually had Brad Smith and Jordan Rossiter on the bench.

Going into sundays game, of course the lineups will look different. Injury clouds surround Cech, Terry and Hazard for Chelsea and Henderson wont play for us through suspension with Sturridge also under an injury cloud. The good news is that Gerrard is back, Flanno has arrived so we at least play a more orthodox back 4.

THE GAME

My thoughts from the game in note form.

  • Eto'o should have been off in the 3rd minute with a horrible knee high studs up challenge on Jordan Henderson
  • We duly scored from that foul though as Coutinho whipped in a ball and Skrtel tapped in a gimme.
  • Chelsea responded really well with Hazard, Willian and Oscar tearing us up for about 20 minutes and the equaliser came. They were brilliant for large parts of the game and we will need to quell their influence throughout the game. The diamond midfield I think will be used.
  • Despite good play from Chelsea though, they didnt really create a lot of golden chances and the equaliser came from a lucky deflection that fell into Hazards path.
  • I also noted that Sterling didnt track back as hard as he should have. He certainly tracks back much better now but more on him later.
  • Allen has a great chance to restore the lead but Cahill did magnificently to snuff out what looked a certain goal.
  • Then Chelsea took the lead. Again a goal that could have been avoided. They again get a bit of luck with a deflection off Sakho going straight back into Hazards path. He centers it and Mignolet should have done better and kept it out.
  • Lampard has a good effort from outside the box, brilliantly saved by Migs.
  • Allen had a good shot just nearing half time but Cech did well to save it.
  • Second half now and Sakho hits the bar with a header.
  • Then Eto'o should score, Migs makes a great save but Eto'o is a yard offside anyways but the linesman never raised his flag.
  • Johnson tests Cech with a good shot from outside the area.
  • Suarez had a penalty claim when Eto'o took him down off the ball which was pretty silly from Eto'o
  • Torres gets a great chance to make it 3-1 but only because Sakho does his hammy which lets Torres in. Migs saves it anyways cos Torres is s**t.

So looking at that, I thought we started extremely well and got the jump on them but we failed to contain Hazard, Willian and Oscar and paid the price through two goals. I think Gerrard being able to play will help in this regard but losing Henderson hurts. Gerrard's set piece delivery will also be a big plus.

I thought Cahill and Terry were brilliant and stingy. Gave Suarez nothing all afternoon. Sturridge is key if he is fit so that he can give them something else to think about. Suarez was fighting a 2 on 1 battle and they marshalled him extremely well. If Sturridge is fit, suddenly it's 2 v 2 and we can give them a big problem.

Sterling's rise is also key here. IMO he is our most important player heading into the match. He was average against Chelsea the first time around and is now in the form of his life. Not just offensively but his tracking back is a million times better. He will help on both ends. His speed and ability to get on the ball and turn players creates endless opportunities for us. He is like a new world class signing that didnt play in the first game.

I thought we gave as good as we got on the day. I think their were three penalty shouts, two for us and one for Chelsea and none were given. All were 50/50. We didnt get the rub of the green when Eto'o should have been sent off but overall, we were away from home, undermanned and we were still probably unlucky not to get a draw.

Watching that game back has given me far more confidence that we can do the job this weekend.

We are far more confident now, we believe going into every match that we will win, particularly at home. If we can get on top of Hazard, Willian and Oscar, suddenly their goal scoring opps die off. With the reborn Sterling and hopefully Sturridge thrown in we can give the excellent Terry and Cahill far more problems.

Looking forward to it! CMON BOYS!

Cech gone for the season Terry in doubt with an ankle, a good result for them means focus will be on the return leg. Things are looking good.
EDIT

Mourinho revealed Terry would miss at least the second leg, saying, "We have to play the (May 24) final for him to play with us."

So that is Terry and Cech definitely out for the game at Anfield. Just need Hazard not to play.
