The Chicago Bulls Thread - Feat best 3 guard rotation of ALL TIME

Jimmer was just insurance really. Plus some good pr. No one we signed late in the season played much, he didn't have much time to learn our systems and let's be honest he's not exactly defensively capable.

I'd like to have seen a little more of him personally, but mainly because it would have meant less court time for kirk :p For him to have court time against Washington would have meant him playing against wall, beal or dre, and that's a disaster waiting to happen. DJs not great defensively bit he at least has quickness on his side

Do we go for melo. I've expressed my preference before for no, but tbh I don't see us being able to clear that sort of cap room without sacrificing taj.

It also depends on what's happening with mirotic.

I see it as the opposite. They'll go for Melo, and how that goes depends whether we look at Mirotic. If we get Melo, we can't afford him. If we don't, we're left with various different options, one is bringing him over.

The late season signings of Brewer, Amundson, James etc.. strongly suggest we're going for Melo, that was the only reason.

As for whether Melo is the right fit? That's debatable, but I think he is. And we just so desperately need scoring and offensive talent that I'd go all out.

Rose Butler Melo Gibson Noah is a really talented starting 5, and I think it works well with Noah and Rose both being good passers, also allows Rose to work his way into the season and not be a number.1 option right from the start.

The depth is where you'll have problems though... No big men depth at all.

Greg smith..... Lol

God I wish we drafted dieng

Typical Thibs henchman Dieng..would have been a sensation and usher Nazr into a retirement home. Was confused they didnt go for him although I think Snell will be a player in this league. They knew Deng was likely to be gone at some stage...

How about Lakers having a crack at Thibs?? I know he has had his issues with Bulls management but is connection with Joakim, DR and co would surely keep him from considering leaving. His contract does run until 2017.

Indeed he is. But assuming nazr retires and Carlos is done we are awfully thin in the big department.

He's coming back from a major injury isn't he?

Not a major injury I don't think just a lengthy one, he was only released so the Rockets could get a back up big that was ready to play.

Some rumors:

Plan A is Carmelo

Plan B is Nikola

Plan C is Gordon Hayward. The hope would be Utah doesn't match.

Bulls really like Doug McDermott a lot.

Do not want Gordon Hayward, so desperately hoping for plan A or B.

Jazz love Gtime and will match any offer we sign him for. He surprisingly has similar stats to P George actually but without the fanfare or defence. Lets just bring Mirotic over and be done with it. Signing a legit scorer would solve our greatest weakness though...

I see Hayward at his ceiling. Paul George is grossly overrated, so it's no surprise.

Agree on Mirotic. Need to bring him over asap.

I was quite keen on Lance earlier in the season but watching his decline and general dickheadery of late, i'd be alarmed if we were in for him
Not that it's likely but I'd still take him, I'm blaming Evan Turner for single handedly destroying the Pacers season! With him next to Rose, hopefully an improved Snell and a couple of other shooters and we're in business.

I'm getting more and more confident of Melo. And I think it should be our number one goal.

Aim for a starting line up of:
Rose
Butler
Melo
Gibson
Noah

It does mean the bench is going to be minimum-salary guys but that's okay. Probably start with Smith and Hinrich. I'd be looking for 2-3 specialist 3-point shooters like Miami have done recently with the likes of Rashard Lewis, James Jones, Eddie House. Potentially Snell. And just a veteran big man that can give us 10mins a night that isn't Nazr.

It is thin, but heck we played with a 7-man rotation all this year. I'd be focusing on getting Melo across, then we can work on Mirotic next offseason when we can afford him. He can come in as 6th man, and then get the ring chasers like Miami, and to an extent Clippers and Indiana have done.

You guys confident of Rose making a healthy return?? I'm always nervous when he's on the court now, even when hearing he is training the house down etc.

As a cats fan and seeing what menzel is going through I just can't help but feel rose is heading down the same path.

Such a fantastic player, and if they can somehow get Melo and all stay fit they 'll be right up there.

Besides the knee injuries he has had various other issues as well so maybe he is just injury prone. I still am optimistic he can come back and put together a near full season.

Also, Love wants out and has named the Bulls as a team he'd like.

Yeah, people overlook the fact that Rose missed a lot of games in that shortened season before he first did his knee against Philly. It could be argued his style is just always going to be injury prone. The way Westbrook has come back though has to be taken as a positive.

As for Love, I'd love him. But I'd still go Melo first. If that doesn't work out, then by all means you go all out for Love. And it increases your willingness to include Gibson in a deal as he'd take his spot.

The worry is he's had two significant injuries without being touched in either of them. And yeah he had issues during the shortened season as well so it doesn't look good, which is why I was so adamant we should've tanked this season. Our "season saviour" Augustin won't even be here next season so I'm not sure what the point of that was.

I'm torn on Melo because if Rose goes down again we're in the exact same position of being a one man show but with even less around him given what it would take to get him here. That's a good way to get into a NY/Brooklyn type situation. No draft picks, no cap space, basically no hope. Think we should look more long term.
