So no one is held accountable for what happened?
There is the rub Jabba. If doping is proved, then somebody has to be.

I think that if the players were found guilty, but were also found to have being duped, were given a ban that is completely backdated, and Dank is made accountable for the whole thing - the rogue operator that they decided to pin it on from day one - and banned for life, everyone will walk away with their faces saved, if a little eggy.

Essendon don't get any more whacks, neither does Hird, on account of the fact they have already got done for governance and the doping has been pinned on Dank.

Dank then becomes the wild card, because if he has something on the club, or anyone else involved, the lawyers picnic will be served dessert.

The players cannot plead ignorance, they are still responsible for what they took.

Can understand they want to shift the blame and don't want to miss games, doesn't give them a free pass for cheating.

Dank will not be dumping on the EFC. He has hundreds & thousands, if not millions of reasons not to do so.

Out of interest if the cheats manage to squirn out of this and be found not guilty, who will pick up the legal costs ASADA or the AFL (which in turns means we Carlton FC foot some of the bill)

Why do you say this? They're training atm which they shouldn't be allow to do so until the case is over.

Can't stop them from training. You have to wonder though if their commitment to pre-season might waver with the very real possibility that it could all be for naught.
But then, Jim has assured them it'll all be fine - they'll all get off scot free - and Jim always tells the truth, doesn't he?

Because they have technically been suspended already, except for the International Rules game that was played last month.

Therefore, if it's not resolved before the start of the season, they can't play until it is.

You mean their VFL players?

Exactly.
Have a look at who Essendon* have bought into the club. They gone for guys like Cooney & Gwilt when they could have gone for kids.
FFS, Gwilt was delisted from the worst club in the AFL. Essendon* knows what's coming - all of this so far has been smoke and mirrors.

Lots of talk about contingency plans too, not to mention their draw that seems to give them very little Friday nights.

And apparently the players were texting "thymo" to each other! Certainly dispels the theory that they didn't know what they were taking. This is evidence that wasn't in the public domain before, I am sure there's plenty more yet to be revealed. But according to some scribes, ASADA have nuffin' guv.

And the FACT that Dank admitted to Nick McKenzie of The Age that he gave the players TB4, only to later change his mind and say that he meant to say Thymomodulin.....OOPS
