We are going to be bloody tall when we have Howard, Frampton, and Harvey up front, Redden in the ruck and Austin, O'Shea and Butcher down back.
Yep, good point. But the PAFC recruit first and foremost for the AFL side. Last year our AFL ruckman had no support (due to injury and lack of depth in regards to talls) and Harvey, a key forward prospect, had to handle Magpies first ruck duties. I'm pleased we have a dearth of tall prospects this year to cover the areas of need in our AFL and SANFL squads. We need to find long term replacements and cover for our tall KP players and in the ruck. I'm prepared to wear the 'excess' talls we must play for covering this insurance factor, within the confines of the SANFL restrictions placed on our list. Not being able to drop non-performing AFL listed players from the Magpies is a ridiculous rule that, of the SANFL's own making, diminishes that tin pot competition.

Yea very much agree. I am not so much concerned about the competitiveness of the side, SANFL restrictions and AFL prioritisation have reduced that, but rather how are we going to fit all this talls in the side to ensure their development. Injuries happen and that will allow some opportunities but will they have an opportunity to get the game time and experience they need? Does it really help the development of Shaw and Howard to play defense?

Can we play Trengove and Ryder in the same side? I appreciate they play different roles but do we become too top heavy?

Currently we have Stewart and Clurey in both hard running talls and we have a crumber in Sam Gray. If Ryder and Trengove play do we have the run to play the, very necessary, crumber who can't push into the midfield?

I think we can. 3 tall forwards with one being a second ruck isn't really top heavy.

So with Blicavs destroying us on Friday and other players like Roughead, Darling and Reid all showing how damaging a versatile tall can be, where would we optimally like Westhoff playing? At his best he is a match winner who applies insane defensive pressure, clunks marks and kicks goals but he can disappear and fail to impact.

For instance, with all talls available, would he play third string to Schulz ad Ryder up front? Should he be the key forward with Schulz and Ryder playing around him? Would we play three talls up front and chuck him on a wing? Or maybe follow Geelong's lead and chuck him on the ball? Maybe the floater down back?

Geez Neade so far off AFL standard it is not funny What other team would play him ?

If Burgo sticks him in the weights room he might be able to push off some players when he tries to go for a run.

And now this suddenly becomes super interesting if going for the best 22 if everyone is healthy. I for one am glad the sub is gone next year, even though I did think we had an advantage with it in 2013 and 2014.
