Such a beast 21/20... Oh lawd. But that last play is exactly the knock on him. If he develops a jumper he'll be a nailed on all-star in the NBA. If not, his ceiling is considerably lower IMO. He needed to take that last shot, even if it was 5 on him...
the commentators nailed it he correctly passed up the first opportunity but made an error passing it out to a very deep shot from three at that point near the elbow he should have created something

Eh, if you have five on you it's probably best to pass

Didn't need to settle for the jumper either. Had time to take it straight to the ring. He'll learn from that; there's times where you need to be selfish when you're the star on the team.
Yep, he didn't need the jumper but at the moment he's more of a fast break, put back, dunker or drive type of player. Imagine if he develops a jumper... he will be unstoppable.

21/20/7/2
Team cost him a huge triple double.
They shot terribly 37% from the field.

After 4 games he is averaging
19/14.5/5.25/2/1

Will be interesting to see how he goes when the Arizona transfer player is allowed to play. Supposedly he is tall who hopefully can anchor the defense and finish Simmons work inside. Hornsby should also help considerably, given he is a specialist three point shooter to go with the rest of their perimeter shooters.

Craig Victor, he is only 6'9 but anything has to be better rebound wise than they have at the moment.

LSU play again tomorrow.

Hopefully he has some hops, cause as funny as it is watching Elbert Robinson go up for a dunk, he is costing Simmons from recording a number of triple doubles for the season.

Jonathan Givony from DraftExpress: "He hasn’t taken a three-point shot all year, so I came early to the game to watch him in warm-ups. If I’m not going to see him shoot during the season, then let me go and watch him in warm-ups when there’s nobody guarding him. He didn’t shoot well there either. I think he made two three-pointers out of about 30 he attempted. He doesn’t have any confidence in his shot right now. He doesn’t believe that it’s going to go in."

Definitely something he needs to improve on.

He really hasn't needed to shoot the ball till now, so its more of a confidence/repetition thing. Once he gets comfortable going for jump shots then he should be okay. It shouldn't be a big problem since he's still heaps young and seems to have the maturity to know he has to develop that part of his game a bit more.

Simmons with a double-double...without making a field goal. 13 rebounds, 10 assists and 2 points (0/5 FG).

EDIT: With that he drives it into the lane and finishes, couldn't hit the and-one FT though.

Game goes into OT, but Simmons fouls out within the first minute (wasn't a foul IMO).

That was a really weird game. After so much focus yesterday on Ben not taking that last shot, what does he do? He goes out and takes only 1 shot in the entire first half. I find it interesting that with so much media attention on Ben, his other highly rated freshman teammates have been going largely unnoticed. He is good mates with them and we all know how team orientated Ben is, almost to a fault. Probably seems ridiculous but it wouldn't surprise me if Ben purposely passed up those shots to try get his teammates going. Again, seems ridiculous and I'm probably over thinking it. Could be he just wasn't feeling it. To that end, if your star player isn't getting his own shot, how about the coach draw up some plays and get him some easy shots to get him going...
Regardless, Ben clearly needs to get to work on his jump shot because teams will lag off him all the time now.
The other thing is, Ben put a focus on his poor defense in the last game. Seems he put a lot of focus on that end today. Plus with him being the only guy rebounding worth a damn on that team, he has to have been super tired. Logged 40 minutes the night before.
*sorry for the homer-ish gibberish. I'm just venting

He has a jump shot, I've seen him shoot well before, he shot it a bit when he was in Australia. Honestly if he gets his jump shot going then put him in the unstoppable/complete package basket with LeBron, Durant, Westbrook, George, Griffin etc.

And yeah I reckon the Celtics would be the perfect fit for him. Anywhere but Philly. Although I guess Philly have a chance to create a dynasty team in a couple of years if this all works out.
