Nazi-ism (or National Socialism) and Commun-ism are just competing forms of Social-ism. There are differences, but they both had the murderous component white-washed by contemporary left-wingers. Some refuse to even accept socialism is left wing, even refusing to acknowledge ABC-ism.

What was the 'left wing' agenda pursued by the Nazis?
Last I checled, the genocide of Jews, homosexuals and the disabled, the occupation and military conquest of Europe, notions of racial inequality and supremacism and repudiation of liberalism are not left wing.
You could argue the Nazis were trying to establish social equality via killing everyone who wasn't german. But even that's a stretch.

Of course lefties cant be racist. Yes Hitler and his Nazis considered races other than their own inferior, of course. But while Hitler was hostile to those racial minorities, modern white progressives condescend benevolently. Hitler's blatant violent racism was eradicated relatively quickly once the horrors of genicide were revealed, but the more subtle and in my opinion insidious racism of the modern left continues under the radar. In my humble opinion this paternal racism, for example, has decimated the lives of many aboriginals here in Australia.

Great news. Sounds like you won't have any trouble finding 20% of the population who agree with you and are willing to chip in $250 for the ABC then. Then everyone is happy. It can be as biased as it wants to be and no-one will care, since they won't be forced to pay for it, and the government can put the tax money to work elsewhere. School, hospitals, or even, gasp, give it back to the taxpayers. Problem solved. Close thread.

Can't I just ask for my tax contribution to go towards the ABC instead of the planes that we still don't have?

Yeh they think a few planes and a sub or two is going to save us, from who is this time oh that's right it's the mussos turn, or or is the reds, Chinese, s**t I give up.
Not really.... average at best compared to the BBC
but its no surprise considering the difference in funding. The UK is clearly the gold standard but they have three times the budget. (per capita)
From what I've seen of the quality of Canadian CBC or PBS tv programs, we're pretty similar to them.
But on the radio side public broadcasting in america is far far superior to anything on aussie airwaves.

If you're happy to read the disgraceful, biased, corrupt publications the Dirty Digger puts out and don't see how important the ABC in providing balance then you probably don't have sufficient functioning neurons to appreciate how important a public broadcaster is.
The amount devoted to the ABC is small when taking into account the total budget. Billions would pour into the government coffers by removing the negative gains deductions, doing something about the superannuation rorts, bringing back death duties, taxing family trusts a companies. Far easier to kick a public broadcaster that actually produces Australian content and provides thoughtful programming than take away the entitlements of the plutocracy.
