Universal Love The "I was wrong about Hardwick" confession thread!

I was concerned but never wanted him sacked mid season. I wanted reassessment at the end of 2015. Which occurs at the end of every year.
Amateur clubs sack coaches mid season, we are much more professional then we have ever been.
Hardwick is finally getting the recognition he deserves. We fear no one !!!

The RFC was Dimma's first senior coaching gig, and his coaching skills were always going to grow along with the team. It's not like we got a Malthouse or Bomber Thompson who'd already done the hard yards. If that had been the case then we WOULD have every right to demand more.
But Dimma was learning the ropes season by season, and he's now proven to be an excellent student of the game, as was Sheeds and as is Clarko.
IMHO we have a gem of a coach in Dimma and I'm now confident he'll be a 200-plus gamer (coach) at our club. It was never going to be an easy task getting a club like Richmond out of its 30+ years of mediocrity s**t-hole. But I think Dimma is getting the job done slowly but surely, and what a great foundation he's laid.

My change of mind is not contingent on winning a final. I am just happy to see them playing hard football to their potential. And a coach who can coach. The rest will take care of itself. I must say the last qtr against the sainters made me blink...but they still won.
I loved the appointment of Dimma. Unlike walls, spud and wallace before him. I mean I hated him as a player. Tough and uncompromising. Like a hafey or sheedy or malthouse. I thought.
But he'd had 5 years and I thought that was long enough...when it appeared the team was no longer making progress.
I thought that the history of not supporting coaches and sacking them too soon had neutered the current club leadership from making a call they needed to make.
Good point about the club being such a leadership shithole for at least 30 years...that would demand more time to repair the damage done.
As I said, happy to admit I was wrong. And really happy it looks like the club continues to make excellent calls in almost every area.

And forgot to mention that I probably also need to take into account the extreme competition with 17 other clubs on what would be a far more equal playing field than anything I have ever experienced. That should also demand more time for a coach.

One big thing he has been criticised for was that he wasn't a good match day coach. I can tell you now that he is a good match day coach. No coach that wins 3/5 games against the top 4 teams (not including Richmond of course) with only 1 of those losses being a comfortable loss is a terrible match day coach.

Honestly, I wanted him out of the door right then and there after Round 6. Looking back, how shocking of a decision would that have been if the club listened to us?

The club stood by him and said that they believed he was a good coach when supporters of Richmond and the opposition, including the "media experts" said he was a dud and should be replaced.

Goes to show that the clubs knows what they are doing, and that it is us who do not know.

The day the club knee jerk reacts based on supporter say so is the day the board needs to go.

If you took the comments on threads earlier this year as the reason to repalce the coach we would have been replacing coaches three times a wek. I have said before that Richmond have the most bi-polar supporters. Probably based on all the disappointment we have been exposed to.

So glad to see Hardwick proving the doubters wrong and sticking to what he believed was right from the outset.

After some kick arse wins, everything seems to have clicked and now believe you are The MAN....to lead us to glory....god damn..cmon man...cmon man...you da Man

Good to see some of the doubters taking responsibility for some of the over reactions from earlier in the year. Funny how some who were so vocal have not found the thread yet.
Anyone remember these pearlers ....
He's a worse match day coach than Frawley.
His replacement needs to be sought out immediately. I doubt it will happen though - we have a number cruncher in Gale and a soft as your Grandmother president in charge.
Hardwick has to be sacked. But we know Penny and her board don't make hard decisions.
Anybody not in the "sack him" club needs their head examined.
I agree that Hardwick is not a game day coach.Does not know how to stop opposing teams when they get a run on.
Hardwicks problem is that he is trying to make us Hawthorn, which every other club has figured out and has set up there defense to counter that style of play. They shut down our run and we are ******* hopeless. One game plan isn't doing us favors.
For those who are saying "it is only Round 2", you seem to have hope that Richmond can turn this around. Amazing
No matter what happens this season we need a new coach. Hardwick is going to lead us nowhere he cannot coach

This sample of gems from just the first 6 pages of a 174 page thread. Fickle fickle people. Some of these posters are yet to rear their head in here

Image never being able to make an error at work. Lucky Clarkson and Lyon have never made an error or ever lost a game of footy..

Glad to see you are keeping one foot in the I was right pond

I think that bolded one was mine! :D

I'm glad I was wrong, it means we are in a good place, and to be fair that's all the majority of the negative posters from back then probably wanted too.

There are some though who are probably annoyed that they were wrong, despite us having some success, and would rather us have not improved and sacked him so that they could say "told you so".

These are the ones who haven't found my thread yet. :$

Hats off reaper. Lets just all enjoy whats ben happening regardless off what our round 2 beliefs were

We hadn't achieved anything under almost 5 1/3 yrs Of DH so people had a right to ask questions in May to demand for better
Fxxx we had Morris running around with other campaigners
The team was spiralling into repeated habits while guys like Lennon Lambert CELlis etc were rotting in the seconds
What craps me off is the swingers who jump from the pro then to the against with a drop of a hat. I started a thread last year called
"Are We Really Improving " The message got lost as the usual Parrots came on and sabotaged it
I will support somebody if I can see them genuinely improving and that's improving at a greater rate than our competitors
Up until May DH career was on the inverted parabola path and credit to him and the club they turned it around
I was really crapped off with so many soft pr0n ball cupping videos the clubs media dept kept dishing up ( probably nothing to do with DH ) but they didn't give me one clue on where our next flag was coming from
These appeared to have stopped since May and the boys and DH have looked so focussed
Kudos to Ben Peg DH and the rest of the rfc for making me feel like 1980 is back and kicking at Punt Rd. DH has another year on his contract and he is entitled to see that out. No more spontaneous decisions need to be made until about June next year IMO as we will have a better idea where and what DH has actually achieved
Yes I was a pricx to Ben Peg Dan Blair and Casino and probably unfairly harsh ,but to me enough was enough with the media crap
Make movies and docos when you actually achieve something which could be on the verge , but nothing is guaranteed without hard work focus discipline and growth in improvement in all departments
If DH is coaching the rfc then I'm on his side until the above points are neglected .then I will ask questions and continue to demand for better
