Yep, Mav's earned an upgraded number, and 44 is just about the perfect number for Lonie - he is going to get sooooo much advice from Schneids and Milney!

Patrick McCartin will start in a number that he will remain in for his saints career IMO.

Hardly any pick ones have started in a high number only to move again. So i'm guessing number 4 is his.

McCartin - 40 - Wore this at the champs. Will earn a choice between 4 (Lockett) and 12 (Riewoldt) and follow the path of our two greatest forwards.

Goddard - 38 - Wore this at the champs. Will earn a choice between 2 (Frawley) and 25 (Fisher) and follow in the footsteps of two of our greatest defensive leaders.

Lonie - 28 - Will follow Montagna and upgrade from 28 to 11.

McKenzie - 36 - Will be the first to 100 games in the jumper.

Membrey - 37 - Will earn a choice between 13 (Schneider) and 24 (Dempster), following two former Swans who have truly become Saints.

:D

As i said before basically every pick one has started in one number and remained in it. So i don't see why McCartin will be any different. 99% sure he'll be in 4.

Hardly any pick 1 has started in a high number then upgraded.

Quoting myself but time to try and back up my theory.

Josh Fraser - started in 25 ended his Collingwood career in 25
Nick Riewoldt - started in 12 still in 12
Luke Hodge - started in 15 still in 15
Brendon Goddard - started in 18 ended his St Kilda career in 18
Adam Cooney - started in 17 ended his Western Shitdogs career in 17
Brett Deledio - started in 3 still in 3
Marc Murphy - started in 3 still in 3
Bryce Gibbs - started in 4 still in 4
Matthew Kreuzer - started in 8 still in 8
Jack Watts - started in 4 still in 4
Tom Scully - started in 31 ended his Demons career in 31
David Swallow - started in 24 still in 24
Jonathon Patton - started in 12 still in 12
Lachie Whitfield - started in 6 still in 6
Tom Boyd - lol
Patrick McCartin -

There we go. So none started in a high number then moved so i doubt Patrick McCartin will be any different.

Also if Blake Acres doesn't get 8 like rumoured would love to see Hugh Goddard given the number 8.

4. Patrick McCartin (What other number for our new big full forward? Plus the number one pick deserves a low number)
7. Luke Dunstan (Shock, horror!)
8. Blake Acres (believe it was his junior footy number, and he's hinted that he wants it)
28. Mav Weller (senior player coming off the rookie list, deserves a number to make his own)
32. Ahmed Saad (good mates with Milera, unfair on Delaney to take 21 away after a solid season)
33. Daniel McKenzie (next best available)
36. Tim Membrey (junior footy number, can hopefully become the first name on the locker)
37. Hugh Goddard (nothing number, will take 25 in the next year or so)
38. Jack Sinclair (best available)
40. Brenton Payne (best available)
44. Jack Lonie (carries on Milney's number as a small forward)
