New Coach, New Era
Saturday 19th April, 2008.
The Melbourne football club is pleased to announce the signing of loopy_cam as the new coach of the club. We caught up for loopy for a few words on his apointment.
"I am very happy to be given this role. Melbourne is a great club with a terrific culture. I will be looking to make an impact straight away. We have a good list and we will be looking to do well for not only this year but also for the future."
Loopy really impressed the club with his application and they are really happy with what he wants to do and where he wants to take the Melbourne football club.

Neitz Struck Down
Monday 21st April, 2008
Further bad news has come out of the Demons loss to lowly side Carlton. David Neitz has been struck down with a shoulder injury. Although he hasn't been named in the team in recent weeks David has been a champion for this club.
The full extent of the injury is still yet to be known with Neitz to be tested today although new coach loopy_cam said he will be unlikely to be available for selection this week.
"Neitzy probably won't get up for this week. Although he hasn't played the last few weeks every team needs depth. We will be hoping for a quick recovery."

Doing the games took a bloody long time.

It's interesting though, I was rooting for my players for a premiership in '06. Guess I'll have to lead them to a first one. :D

More News on Neitz
Monday 21st April, 2008
The Melbourne footy club has recieved news that David Neitz's injury is to his neck. He has been put on the long term injury list and will therefre be out for at least 8 weeks. This would have opened the door for a rookie to be promoted. However, the club has no rookies.
Neitz has also stated that this will be his final year so lets hope for a good recovery so we can send off a champion in style.

Former Coach Stays On
Wednesday 23rd April, 2008
It has today been revealed that the former coach of the club, cAsEy 18, will be staying on with the club in an assistant role. cAsEy held the top job for only six months but during that time he made some key signings including strong full-back Brian Lake and superb leader and Centre half forward Nick Riewoldt. This is what cAsEy had to say on the subject.
'Yeh, I'll enjoy still being involved. I built the team and am pretty happy with it. I don't think I have the time to be a ful time coach but I'd like to be an assistant.
Most of cAsEy's work will be done during trading and draft weeks but he will keep a close eye on the team's performances in the current season.

New Coach Rings the Changes
Friday 25th April, 2008
Newly appointed coach, loopy_cam has made three changes in the lead up to his first round in charge. Running defender Max Rooke and youngsters Hinkley and Harbrow have all been omitted for the teams round 6 clash with the Gold Coast. When asked about the ommisions loopy had this to say.
'I really want to stamp my authority on the team. Players won't just get a game because of their name. (Max) Rooke has been a great player for us but his form has been down in the last few weeks. Players really need to earn a spot and Hinkley, Rooke and Harbrow just haven't done that in recent weeks. They will play for the reserves and will get their form up their for a few weeks.'
One player who had a good chance of coming in this week was Collingwood forward Ben Reid. Reid, however, didn't pull up for the game with a quad injury.
'Yeah, Benny was a good chane to come in. I feel for the guy because he has worked so hard and then gets injured at the worst time. He shouldn't be out for too long though and is a chance for next week if players don't perform.'
The players that will come in this week are defender Antoni Grover, forward Chad Jones and young forward/midfielder Brad Ebert. Loopy was full of praise for these three players.
'Ant (Grover) has been consistently impressive in the reserves and gets his chance in Max Rookes usual position. He'll provide great rebound from our defence, something which has been lacking from Rookes game lately. Chad (Jones) will provide another target in attack. Chad has been very good at this in the reserves and we're hoping this will take some pressure of the struggling (Jonathon) Brown. Brad (Ebert) has been fantastic since joining the club. He has been one of our best trainers in the pre-season and has really ripped it up in the reserves also. He will rotate between forward pocket and the midfield. I believe we have the right mix of players to go a long way this season but players will be picked on performance, not reputation.'

More Injury Troubles
Friday 25th April, 2008
Antoni Grover has gone down with a thigh injury in his first game in the first team in a while. It occured in the second quarter. Grover's left thigh was heavily iced and he was in his tracksuit pants for the rest of the game.
Dustin Fletcher is another who has been struck down. He picked up an injury and was rested for the entire last quarter.
In better news, both Peter Bell and Joel Corey had good games and may figure in this weeks best players.

Melbourne Go Down in Loopys first Game
Monday 28th April, 2008
In Loopy_cam's first game as coach, the Melbourne Demons have gone down by ninety point in a close one against the Gold Coast.
'We were very unlucky in this game.' Loopy said in his after match press conference. 'Injuries really cost us. Fletcher and Grover are good players and to lose them early was a big blow. I don't wanna make excuses, but that reallyu cost the team. There were some positives to come out of the game. Chad Jones played very well in his return and also Cameron Brce, Brian Lake and Peter Bell are finding some form. We will hit the training track hard this week and look to come out firing next round.'
When asked if he would make any changes this week loopy had this to say.
'Well it's looking like we'll have some forced changes with Ant and Fletch going down. Thurstans and Logan playewell in the reserves so they'd be a chance to come in. Rooke, B. Reid and Hinkley are all also a chance. It's a good thing to have some depth because it puts pressure on everyone in the first team to perform week in, week out. We're still missing some key players due to injury but Dempsey is a chance to come back in. He will be put through his paces in training and if he gets through he will be in the team. He is a quality player and we'll put him straight into our lineup.'
Lets hope for a big win by the Dees next week.

Fletcher and Grover don't get Up
Thursday 1st May, 2008
Loopy_cam has made some changes in structure and personnel for his second clash as head coach. Both Dustin Fletcher and Antoni Grover were injured in last weeks loss to the gold coast and both did not pass fitness tests to play this week. This leaves the injury list at the club very long with only 20 players to pick the 18 from. Thurstans comes in to replace Fletcher in defence after an impressive showing in the reserves last week. The other in is young midfielder Tom Logan. Tom has also been very consistent in the reserves. Youngsters Brad Ebert and Ricky Dyson hold their spots after solid performances last week.
Loopy has also made a few structural changes for the clash this week with much publicised underperforming Jonathon Brown being moved to centre half forward to try and regain his best form. Nick Riewoldt will play out of the square and Chad Jones will be the third tall forward.

Melbourne Players Gear up for Tribute Game
Tuesday 6th May, 2008
The tribute match is coming up this week and there are a few Melbourne players preparing for one of the biggest matches of heir lives. Jonathan Brown, Darren Milburn and Troy Simmonds have all been included in the Victorian squad. Brown will also captain the team. Joel Corey has been selected in the squad for the All Stars team. Injured players Mark McVeigh, Dustin Fletcher and Nick Riewoldt would all have been big chances to make a team if not for injury. The Melbourne football club wishes all players selected the best of luck.
