The punting aspect of the Essendon Guilty Verdict

Does anybody else think this team is a strong chance to go over the 1.5 wins line currently on offer at $2.50 at sportsbet? We've had some pretty sh*tty sides in the comp but in the last 20 years only Fitzroy (1996) have finished the season with less than 2 wins to their name

As a consequence, I also don't mind the $6 now on offer for Carlton to get the spoon

Anyone else looking at some of these markets after yesterday's decision?

Carlton $7 at TAB for spoon. I'd say we probably win 2-3 and think there's value in o1.5 wins.. as you say, winless seasons are extremely unlikely in any league, especially across 22 matches (obviously these are extreme circumstances). The public who haven't put much thought into it beyond "essendon suck and now all their good players got banned!!!" will continue hammer the under though.

Carlton to win the spoon definitely the value bet to come out of it so far imo. They're not going to be a bunch of kids like when GC and GWS came into the comp so could definitely see them still beating Carlton who look dreadful as well

Guess it all depends on who they pick up really. I was thinking they would be about as strong, if not stronger than GWS in the early days but in taking another look at the records, GWS actually won less games in those first couple of years than I thought.

Looking at the below list, there are some decent players on there who were in the system only a couple of months ago. If they could pick some of the ones that have a reasonable amount of experience, particularly in defense where they will need a lot of help, they could be good enough to knock of a couple of teams
