Listen to this: NORF are offering 3 years (according to the Australian). Surely that ups the compo from band 4 to band 3 (2nd rd pick). Take it & run.

If we get band 3 for Waite we better not get another free agent to cancel out our compo.

They'll fall off a cliff very quickly when boomer, dal santo, wells, Petrie and potentially Waite finish up in a few years. Rest of their team is bog average bar cunnington.

Just dont understand why north melbourne would want waite, with black, daws, petrie, brown, currie and tarrant already on their list. Its not like they are knocking on the door of a grandfinal. Waite is way to inconsistant to sign for 3yrs, give him a 1yr with 2nd yr trigger option. maybe games played etc

I like Waite but a second rounder in Rogers' hands sounds somewhat more appealing.

Pretty sure that would kill off any further talks of Higgins to Carlton also. :)

Hope so. Second rd pick is way to valuable to us at the moment.

Yep, see ya Waite. Enjoy the retirement fund from North, which is probably being funded by the 17 other clubs who pay their centrelink payment every fortnight to stay afloat.

Brad Scott would love Waite...

You can see Lyon and Scott losing their trust like the former did with Sylvia. Both can win games before having brain fades and putting in shockers.

Hard to see us getting a second round pick. Melbourne didn't get one for Rivers and Moloney after signing Byrnes. They won't be offering big money for Waite.

If we can get a pick in the low 20's for Waite, then bye bye. Probably will get screwed by the AFL though because that is how it is with us.

That is a bit harsh. :p We spent ages correcting the list after Laidley ran it into the ground, the list is still a bit lop-sided, we have 15 21 year old and under players, 15 22-25 year olds and only 12 26+ year olds and there is probably more dead wood in that 26+ group than there is in the other two categories. I'd be surprised if Anthony and McMahon play on next year while Grima and Firrito are a bit of an unknown, we could be down to just 8 of that group next year.

It is just difficult from the outside looking in to make the judgement, most of our supporters have been pretty optimistic about say Cunnington for example and he would be an example of a bog average player you would have called last year. We haven't really over-exposed recent higher end draft picks other than McDonald, guys like Wood and Dumont who are dominating in the VFL aren't being rushed while the club has been keen to work on player deficiencies of players like Greenwood, Jacobs, Harper, Mullett, etc before really giving them a lot of AFL game time, most of those players are 21 or under, or were at the start of the year.

Sides that can't field a remotely competitive team without deploying all the talented youngsters will look to have a lot more talent but we have the luxury that reasonable recruitment and development over a fair few years has allowed us to focus a lot more effort on development of those who have deficiencies rather than just being forced to play them at AFL level where you don't have the same freedom.

It is guys like Ziebell, Cunnington, Bastinac, Wright, etc who had deficiencies but we had to throw them in when we first recruited them because our list and recruitment was s**t for so long we had no other options and they have probably carried flaws in their game for a lot longer, the stability has allowed us to drop back guys like Harper, Greenwood, etc in recent years who had some of the more obvious flaws in their game to correct.
