sen are an official broadcaster of the afl. they directly or indirectly protect the game when they can. whether its due to inherent bias or otherwise.

trying to figure out whether say espn/cbs/tnt are like that with say the nba. perhaps some of my bball brahs Messenger, nbaman1, PHX, Vincent Chase, BoshtrichBurger, stewie griffen, nufan can shine light on otherwise darkened view
N.B.A writers, personalities tend not to pull any punches. I refer to the 2002 NBA western conference finals finals/Tim Donaghy scandal, Plenty of writers still maintain that series was rigged, many of whom are employed by the league affiliate stations.

If this question is somehow in realtion to the PED use etc allegations with certain AFL clubs. A better question to ask is how did the Major League Baseball media personalities treat that scenario during the steroid dramas, from the best of my knowledge they were and still are very scathing of everybody involved. Considering many of them are involved in the Hall of Fame voting and refuse to vote anyone in involved

We all know that the AFL "controls" a lot of things , thats why they have set up their own media dept.

Howard Kotton and Andrew Lowther both work for the AFL and also have segments on Sen , have either of them said anything more than Harf about the "Essendon" issue ?

Even Howard Leigh didnt really say what he thought about the shortened 10 round boxing match , "because he wasnt there".

They are all cauctious with what they say , except for Caro , Mike and Patrick

eg Grant Thomas , says what he thinks , but he gets shafted from Sen , The Age , then walks from Footy Classified.

Hutchy went with what he thought was correct , re Milne and Montagna , Colonial Stadium "Death Valley" and paid the price.

Same with Tony Sheahan getting the boot from channel seven , even with what he said , was denied re Wallace sacking ? it happened as few days later.

Wonder how many on here would gamble with their media careers ?

How did Hutch pay the price, i would think he's doing very well for himself .

He was sued by Milne and Montagna , and suspended by Channel seven for the Death Valley comment.

Yes he is doing very well.

Only when 3aw sacked him in mid 2007 was he able to focus on growing his company "Crocmedia" into what it is today.

To some extent they are.... and to some extent they aren't. Guys are generally not afraid to rip on players who aren't pulling their weight.

Very few people will even mention PED's in the A tho. Most don't want to discuss the possibility, but like the MLB, if (or when) it comes out.... there wont be any punches pulled.

Wouldn't think anyone is going to be fired for not defending every AFL decision.
We don't have North Korea or Chinese media regulations yet.

Many people in all forms of media are critical of the AFL at times, they just don't need to do it at every opportunity like everyone on Bigfooty. Funnily enough, maybe the people who aren't always critical of the AFL might actually think AD et al. are doing a good job.

Hmmm, nah!

Wow, I thought he would be a lot lot older than that.

Also, this Essendon business is cringeworthy listening to majority of SEN personalities...its a real James Hird fan club..

Patrick Smith and probably Rita (will have to see on that one) are the only one on SEN who will give their true opinion on anything....hopefully, Rita will lay into them all with a few home truths about what the everyday footy supporter is thinking of it all.

Smith overdoes it with his calls for people to be sacked or resign over just about every issue in sport.

KB had an academic on talking about corporate governance in relation to Essendon

He then took talkback from callers who all referred to "corporate governments"

BTW the expert believed that Evans shouldn't go, maybe those further down the foodchain
