RIP Sam Simon.
He has been terminally ill for a while now. I believe he was donating a good amount of his vast Simpsons' fortune to animal charities, which was pretty great.
In the hierarchy of important Simpsons figures, Sam Simon has to be right at the top. Almost single-handedly responsible for putting the original writing staff together and thus setting the entire tone of the show from then on. Would never have been what it was without him.
