The Stats thread

I thought key pass was measured as a pass leading up to a shot on goal.

It's a hard stat to take, the pass before the assist could be a 5 yarder before a great run or ball, or it could be the pass that makes the goal. I guess if each key pass is assessed on its merits it could work.
Just read that opta (who everyone uses for stats) defines a key pass as either the pass before the assist or a pass that leads to a missed shot on goal.

Chances created is assists + key passes

My man Fournaldum should be in the AM discussions, has been one of the few shining lights so far for us.

In Coutinho's defence, prior to his form slump at the start of this season he was right up there in terms of the best chance creators in the league. These tweets from the end of last season:
@LFCData: Only Eden Hazard (42) and David Silva (52) have created more chances than Phil Coutinho (38) in the PL in 2015. #LFC

@WhoScored: Philippe Coutinho: Since joining Liverpool in Jan 2013, no player has created more clear-cut chances in the PL than @Phil_Coutinho (27) #LFC

Let's hope he can get back up to that level soon. The good news for us is that he's still putting the ball in the back of net in the mean time, despite not playing to his usual standards. 4 in 11 league games so far, he only scored 5 in 35 last year.

well done, you picked Rooney's worst season vs Vardy's best.......how about for last season?
2014/15 season below :p

Rooney 17 goals (scored + assisted) from 2,873 mins
Vardy 15 goals (scored + assisted) from 2,259 mins

Rooney goal every 169 mins. Vardy goal every 150.6 mins

Goal assisted or scored every 150.6 mins vs 169 is the real stat that matters. WTF even is an attack score?
attack score is the overall contribution to the attack. For instance, Henry was a better allround attacker than RVN but RVN was better in front of goal. Look at the key passes stat.

he was s**t last year but still better than Vardy.
5 goals & 10 assists not a bad year from Vardy who spent a bit of the season behind Ulloa.

Rooney would have scored quite a few penalties in his 12 goals and only managed 5 assists. Don't think either had a bad season but neither were great

Keep in mind if they've included penalties won in the assist stat then half of Vardy's assists are because he's a diving twat.

How dare you speak of England's white knight!

Funny though that Vardy's now been producing goals for his so called worse team at a greater rate than the England captain for over 1 year now but it's the washed up Rooney who will start at the Euros. #woylogic

Keep in mind that Rooney wouldn't be on pens if the English media didn't overrate him to the point he is spoken of as an all-time great!

Rooney doesn't take penalties for United. Took LVG 2 mins to work out he was s**t at them.

Yes, Rooney outscored a striker that was playing in a team that just avoided relegation by the skin of our teeth.

Kudos :thumbsu: ;)

Imagine the goals Jamie could score if he had Di Maria and Mata laying them on a plate for him.
Or had a good striker to finish off his key passes like..... um.. wait a minute, still thinking.... James Wilson! :p
