McGlynn and McVeigh have pretty small sample numbers so their numbers might need to be taken with a grain of salt.
From what I've seen, JPK or Parker are the ones that go pretty hard for the ball outright, Hanners and Jack tend to be more defensive and if they are the ones who get the clearance it's more than likely as a result of a handball receive from JPK or Parker

Some funny stuff going on in the centre square setup, no doubt precipitated by Pyke's absence. Hannebery only started in there in 1 of the first 9 bounces and finished on only 10/28 for the night, a significantly lower percentage than his season average. And possibly he had his numbers inflated because of Mitchell's substitution off.

McVeigh who has been rarely sighted in there and Reid started a few bounces in the first half.

Ruck setup was quickly changed after the first quarter where Derickx was the primary ruckman to Tippett who basically rucked the last 3 quarters.

A real change up this week forced by the re-structuring of the forward line due to BudTip's absence. Parker was the big change with the number 2 centre square attendee ranking 5th this week and in return Mitchell and K.Jack were the main beneficiaries. Hannebery also down on his season average and split his time between an inside and outside role quite evenly.

McVeigh got 5 centre bounces early in the game but drifted back when the game was reaching its conclusion. This is shown in the fact he didn't take any kick ins for the first 3 quarters but took 3 of the last 4 of the game.

Nankervis didn't take many centre bounces either and in fact Reid took one instead.

Hmmm... What I can extrapolate from this data is that Brisbane don't like possessing the ball and when the opposition have it they don't particularly like tackling them or trying to get the ball off them.

Should be a good game.

We're all going to die :p

This is stating the obvious a bit but the midfield is going to have work overtime to prevent them taking marks inside 50, difficult to do but not impossible. There's still hope lol.

Parker continues to be used forward and our number 2 centre square attendee only took 9 of 21 centre bounces. Hannebery also took 9 but interestingly 7 of those were in the 2nd half including the 6. It seems to be an emerging pattern as against both Port and Richmond he was used sparingly there for the first half but increased his attendance in the 2nd half.

It will be interesting to see how they fit Bird into the setup for tomorrow's game. Will they sacrifice Jack to accommodate Bird or will Bird play purely as a medium/tagging forward.

Mitchell didn't take many centre bounces this week and that was after Bird got injured early. A bit of experimentation at the end with McVeigh taking 3 late ones and Goodes 1. Hodge had a role to curb Kennedy in the centre bounces.

Even with his injury, Tippett ended up splitting the remaining centre square ruck contests with Nankervis which serves to show Nankervis isn't ready to shoulder the number 1 role just yet.

Kick ins without Laidler in the team fell mostly to Jetta

A different mix again this week, McVeigh started many in the first 3 quarters before moving into defence. Again Hannebery sparingly used especially early on and K.Jack also didn't attend many, which is surprising given Mitchell was sub for 3 quarters. Reid interestingly started the 2nd bounce as a midfielder but they shelved that idea quickly. Good to see Heeney given opportunities there, we are crying out for someone with clean hands and good kicking in the middle.

Pyke took the first 16 bounces.

A desire to take quick kick ins meant some unusual kick in takers like Smith and Jones.

Adelaide's offensive numbers are very good, just behind Hawthorn and West Coast.
They are 2nd in kicks and 17th in handballs, not surprisingly they are 1st in kick-to-handball ratio.
Other categories they stand out in are clearances and centre clearances, ranked 1st in both categories.

Thanks for the bad news Grim, or should that be thanks for the grim news.

I'm relatively sure that he took none at all in the first half. He started getting some later in the 3rd and into the 4th when Tippett was spending more time off the ground and forward as the game was comfortably in our favour.

Yeah think 1 in the 2nd maybe IIRC but bugger all

tippett needs a bit more than that

Yesterday was statistically one of tippetts best games ever
