Yeah, realised after I posted that. Kent Kingsley for example. Not a common one, but I'll pay it!
I did hold off cheating a little by not using players with surnames Matthews, Edwards, Phillips, etc..........;)

Still waiting for someone to try and knock off my Australian 'Scrabble score XI'.

1. Jacques - 25
2. Jackson - 20
3. Khajawa - 24
4. Kippax - 21
5. Fairfax - 20
6. Chipperfield - 25
7. Blackham - 21
8. McKenzie - 25
9. Kasprowicz - 30
10. McCormick - 23
11. Fleetwood-Smith - 26

If you went international, you would just pick the latest Sri Lankan team - all those 'j's and 'w's.

Maybe a lowest score XI. I'll start - Tony Dell.

Sloggers XI

1. Herschelle Gibbs
2. Chris Gayle
3. Brendan McCullum
4. A.B De Villiers
5. Adam Gilchrist
6. Glenn Maxwell
7. Shahid Afridi
8. Corey Anderson
9. James Faulkner
10. Kieron Pollard
11. Andre Russell

They'd need that lineup for the 250+ score the bowlers will concede.

Captains XI?
Bob Simpson
Arthur Morris
Don Bradman
Greg Chappell
Allan Border
Steve Waugh
Adam Gilchrist (+)
Jack Ryder
Richie Benaud

Not to many fast bowlers there, have to play Jack Ryder as an A/R to take the new ball.

What about an 11 of test cricketers who played another sport at a high level?

I can think of a fair few vfl players going back to Warwick Armstrong right up to simon o'donnell but the only ones I know on the world stage are:C.B.Fry Dennis Compton and jehan Mubarak. Any suggestions?

A few Kiwis have done it. Brian McKechnie and Jeff Wilson are two that spring to mind. Both AB's and played ODI's for NZ.

Eddie Barlow and Peter Kersten played Currie Cup in South Africa.

here's an International Cricket - V.F.L/W.A.F.L/S.A.N.F.L XI

Clem Hill (South Adelaide)
Graeme Wood (East Fremantle)
Vic Richardson (Sturt)
Warwick Armstrong (South Melbourne)
Eric Freeman (Port Adelaide)
Keith Miller (St Kilda)
Sam Loxton (St Kilda)
Gil Langley (Essendon/Sturt)
Max Walker (Melbourne)
Neil Hawke (Port/Torrens/East Perth)
Laurie Nash (South Melbourne)

Jack Worrall (Fitzroy)

Commentator's XI:

Vaughn
Taylor
Ponting
Border
Waugh

Gilchrist

Obviously biased towards Australians, due to not knowing many outside except for Ian Smith, Bumble (not sure what sort of player he was) and Michael Atherton

The Lords XI
(players who play very well at the home of cricket)
(must have played 5 or more tests at lords)

1. Warren Bardsley (bat avg 115 from 7 innings)
2. Graham Gooch (53/39) (longevity)
3. Alan Border (c) (101/9)
4. Shivnarine Chanderpaul (85/9)
5. Joe Root (86/10) (doesn't bode well for thursday :( )
6. Garfield Sobers (95/9)
7. Les Ames (wk) (68/10)
8. Hedley Verity (bowl avg 15 from 14 innings)
9. Steven Finn (21/9)
10. Bob Willis (19/16)
11. Derek Underwood (17/14)

And on the opposite end we have....
The Un-Lords XI
(alot of these guys are in the team, mainly because they performed poor in comparison to usual output elsewhere)

1. W.G Grace (bat 32/8)
2. Sunil Gavaskar (34/10)
3. Sachin Tendulkar (c) (22/9)
4. Greame Thorpe (34/24)
5. Mark Ramprakash (10/13)
6. Alan Knott (wk) (26/21)

10. Liam Plunkett (62/10)
11. Neil Foster (51/12)

Was about to add in Ashely Giles and his Lords bowling average of 40 until I realised that it was on par with his career figures :D

That's one weak bowline lineup. Imagine being the lucky side padding up to that.
