I read a while ago, its not just as simple as going "okay, we are using metric now". There are huge costs involved, huge planning. Its not an overnight thing.

With their population and infrastructure it would be a nightmare. Just imagine how many road signs would be in the States!

Not when they're at the same rate of development of the US. Imagine driving in New York as they rolled out the new km/hr signs. In any case, they don't need an excuse. They can do what they want and I bet they don't change it anytime soon.

They just create more work for themselves and other people by sticking to it.

A huge amount of stuff they do is in metric anyway, they just don't like admitting it.

True. Ultimately though, turning everything metric would be a massive investment. Money they don't have and money the electorate wouldn't allow them to spend on top of all the other wasted expenses.

They still use miles in the UK on the roads. I don't think that could ever be changed there or in the US. I do think the US could do like the British and use it in other situations though. The weather, for one.

I don't understand how Ann Coulter can be a Dead head. Her world view is the antithesis of the band's philosophy. That said Bobby is a member of the Bohemian Grove these days.

I have no idea why, but I tend to associate driving gloves with people who drive convertibles.
