Things you believed/were told as a kid (that are really quite stupid)

Eating breakfast and heavy carb foods is what is causing obesity. All of the heart foundation, diabetes australia etc are funded by and bribed by kelloggs etc to promote high carb, high sugar diets. Google search intermittent fasting and watch the latest catalyst episodes of heart health. Sweden has shifted its diet recommendation away from what has been sprouted for the last 40 years and recommends a high saturated fat low carb diet.

My coffee, banana and cigarette must be good for me then.

There are millions, if not billions, of people that eat breakfast everyday and are not obese. Eating a high-carb, high-sugar diet doesn't cause obesity either, unless you are eating too much.
It is quite simple:
You take in more calories than you burn, you will store it and put on weight. Long term effect = obesity.
You take in less calories than you burn, and you will not store it and will maintain or lose weight. Effect = No obesity.
Fad diets such as intermittent fasting are no more useful for stopping obesity than just reducing your calorie intake and eating healthier.

Breakfast does not cause obesity. What a ludicrous statement.

Not every calorie is created or burnt equally, hormones play a big part as do the chemistry inside your body. The changes I have seen and felt since converting to paleo, as well as intermittent fasting are mind-blowing.

I have been better at managing my weight since cutting breakfast food from my diet. I just live on a few cups of tea which is still important in the morning. I'm still going to be hungry for decent sized meals at lunch and/or dinner regardless.

I know they are not made equally, but I am just disputing your point that breakfast = Obesity.

Go to the top of the nievety class. :thumbsu:

Simple. Your nieve on the subject. And its a perfect example of what this thread is all about. Not your fault, but the Western worlds population has been massively sucked in in the last 50 years.
Times are about to change.

Now, you can say I am naive on the subject, but you didn't produce any fact whatsoever, or even a reason, as to why I am naive on the subject.
Tell me how what I said was incorrect, and please provide some fact on the matter.

Just saying I am naive tells me nothing.

Was once told that if I ate too many dried apricots I'd age prematurely and have wrinkles by 20 by a family friend. To this day, I can't ever look at her or dried apricots in the same way. Bish.

"We're just playing wheelbarrows" :D

Hmmm reminds me of a time when I went to my babysisters place when I was about 6 years old and I being a kid went into the bathroom without knocking.

I saw my babysister who was about 16-17 completely naked getting into the shower.

To this day that memory is tattooed into brain, mind you its a happy pleasant one lol.

It probably explains why I have penchant for tall amazonian women. Then again I was a small kid so anyone over 5ft 5 was tall for me.

Is it relevant to the thread no, but I am brought it up! :p

From Oct 21-24 the world had a staggering onslaught from some of the most prominent organisations, people and Country in Sweden, condemning the current High Carb (sugar) - Low Fat diet, and are demanding that it be revised to Low Carb (closer to zero sugar) High fat as this is how the body needs to operate.

Some of those in that 4 day global nutritional blitzkrieg included-

  • The British Medical Journal- Targeted CVD
  • UK independent/Lancet- Targeted CVD
  • BBC,
  • Swedish Government- Targeted Type 11 Diabetes and Obesity.
  • Influential Credit Suisse Report- Targeted Sugar (my opinion the most damaging of all reports, as it is mainly for the worlds financial sectors)
  • LA Times,
  • Dr Oz (Also a Heart Specialist)- Targeted Alzheimer's and Dementia
  • Dr John Briffa BSc (Hons) MB BS (Lond)- Targeted Stroke.
  • Catylist- Targeted Australian Heart Foundation - Then Thursday just gone cholesterol.
  • University of South Carolina -Flaws in NHANES data (USA Food Pyramid)-Targeted Implausible food pyramid research
  • Dr. Mercola USA (detailing the above study)
  • Kiwis now on board - http://www.stuff.co.nz/life-style/wellbeing/9327862/Fighting-fat-with-fat One of the most fascinating and interesting of all the articles.
For the best overview look at the meltdown of the last ten days on the Australian Heart Foundation Facebook page. They will never recover, and im tipping its the beginning of the end of this organisation as we know it. That page will provide just about every article and link available and some gems from an ignorant H Foundation. https://www.facebook.com/NationalHeartFoundation

And a few bits to get you thinking.

And Chair of the Heart Foundations Food Nutrition Advisory Committee is also a Member of the Cardiovascular Health Advisory Committee at National Heart Foundation, who also happens to also be the Company Sectretary at Soy Australia Ltd... and Executive Director at Australian Oilseeds Federation.

And The Australian Dieticians Association is sponsored by the Wheat and Legume board, Nestle, Kelloggs and Unilever (Flora margarine)

It just goes on and on and on...

Actually just noticed that you're South Australian. Guess not.

Okay, now I think we are talking about very different things here. I support the need for a low-carb and higher fat diet than is prevalent in society now. That was never my contention. Saturated fats, are still in my mind, a no-go.

My contention was that Breakfast =/= Obesity, as was stated. I was against intermittent fasting. Eating a well-balanced diet is, and always will be, number 1. Getting rid of carbohydrates out of your diet isn't going to do much for your health if you are deep-frying everything you eat.

Breakfast doesnt cause obesity, but what people consume for breakfast causes/contributes to it.
You will get those who have a fresh glass of OJ, Heart ticked cereal with low fat/skinny milk, 1 or 2 slices of low GI rye or sourdough with a light spread of Olive grove extra virgin and a nice spread like jam or vegimite, and another group who will have just a big fatty bacon and egg fry up and coffee. No wonder one of those groups are on the road to obesity and heart disease (and everything else)

Also, nothing wrong with having morning breakfast if you are Intermittent fasting.

You could say the exact same thing for lunch or dinner.

Bazzar you have my tick of approval ;)

As a five year old, thinking that when you were born as a boy, you only had one ball, and the other one grew into place in the next couple of years.
