I'd be surprised if Gold Coast took Wright. They don't really need him do they?

He is a quality player and I don't believe Gold Coast will pass him up if he is there at pick 15. Freo may pick him earlier though.

What makes you think we'll pass up on Wright and Goddard? Just curious.
You have quite a lot of key forwards (Tex, Lynch, Jenkins). You would take Durdin if he is available but I doubt he will be. That last minute trade with Geelong meant you won't get him.

Fair reasoning. Wouldn't mind Ellis, but I doubt we could let pass our potential Tiprat-replacement if he's still there :p

You might. I just think they are more likely to take Ellis or someone else

Like I said in a previous post, Freo may pick up Wright. I think they are more likely to pick up a midfielder and then a forward with 36. This draft runs deep and I think you could find a very good forward but pick up Weller who is a very classy midfielder

As a Carlton supporter, I think we need a small, crumbing forward. Betts is at Adelaide. Garlett is at Melbourne. Yarran is a winger now. We played majority of the season with David Ellard as a small forward, but in my opinion, he was hopeless. He had very little affect on games. We are getting Tutt through the PSD, but I'm not sure he will be the answer, even though I have high hopes for him. Therefore, I think we should take a small forward, over a KPP, because they would not be having an immediate impact, where as a small-forward would be more likely to. Plus with Jaksch now in, we are doing alright. We could rookie one and if needed, get a mature aged KPP. So, fingers-crossed, I hope we get Garlett, should he be available. Thoughts TN25

I completely disagree (respectfully). You can find small forwards or use mids - KPP take time to develop.

If there is a KPP at 19 we rate I hope we take him unless an A grade mid slips.

I don't think GC key forwards are that set - only Lynch is proven. Wright won't get past them.

Fingers crossed Weller gets to 19 for me and if not then who knows?

Cannot see GWS not picking a bloke where their list is screaming for an elite outsidish midfielder with genuine pace. I can see them taking 1 defender, but they won't take two. Can see GWS taking Pickett at 4 and be done with it, if they miss out on Leverede so be it.

If Pickett gets to pick 6 they will take him. Laverde is one of the most exciting players in the draft and I think they'll snap him up with pick 4

Carlton are rebuilding so why would they want immediate impact. I would call Marchbank a defender who plays a bit of forward. Carlton have been linked to him.

What's so good about Christian Petracca? Why isn't Alex Carr who actually won the Morrish medal in here? What about Oakleigh Chargers players Toby Mclean who polled higher and Alex Urban who polled the same as Petracca, they've proven they can be part of a winning team. I know what you've written will probably be accurate but i just don't get why.

He is a complete player. Strong, athletic, can kick goals, very clean user of the ball. He is getting all this hype for a reason.

GWS have a few of Laverde types albeit maybe not as good- their two weaknesses are elite speed and KPD. If there is any risk Pickett goes at 5, GwS will take him at 4.

Nothing against Weller at all, in fact would be an excellent choice at 13. I just think at the stage our list is currently at we need to try to get the classiest KPP available, especially if they play or can swing forward.

You don't get into our second pick in your Phantom, but I would suggest that the difference in quality between say Wright/Goddard and say Keitel is more important to us than the difference in quality between Weller and say Wigg or Hamilton.

In the end I think we will taken the opportunity to take a KPP to build around, rather than take more of a role player at a later pick.
