Blues add five more to list

Meanwhile Tom Fields, the son of former Essendon player Neville Fields, has been likened to Blues’ backman Sam Rowe, for taking the tough pathway to the AFL.

“Tom went from Queensland down to South Australia and played for South Adelaide,” Rogers said.

“He could have quite easily stayed in his comfort zone in Queensland and played with his mates, but he took it upon himself to go and better himself in the SANFL, and has had a really good year.

“He has a booming left-foot kick and will play on the wing or half-back.”

AFL Draft Tracker:

The son of former Essendon champion Neville Fields, Tom is a product of the Queensland talent system, having represented that state at under-16, 18 and 21 level before moving to South Adelaide to follow his footy dreams. He is a prodigious left-foot kick who can play across half-back and through the midfield.

Regularly in the best players and becoming very hard to avoid.
Could easily be given a go in the next few weeks and would have some gaping for his field kicking.

Why hasn't this guy made in onto a senior list before this year?
What position do you see him playing in seniors? His kicking is too good to be in the VFL.

Easy to say third tall back-man (192cm) but the thing holding Fields back, may be his mobility.

Only one way to find out though and he's another player that could fit into a well organized system. I think we'll see him before years end.

Haven't seen anything like that since John Duckworth, West Perth v East Freo at Freo oval in the late 70's early 80's. WP were about 3 goals down and with about 10 mins to go in the last qtr and WP didn't look like winning so the WP crowd were starting to leave. Duckworth went into the ruck and turned the game having shots from around the centre circle kicking 2.1 and turning the game which WP ended up winning

Ducky's massive torpedoes were a highlight of my childhood.

Kicked one from the edge of the centre square one day at Basso and I swear it was still going up as it went through the goals.
