Blink 182's "dark" music was actually quite good.
Stay Together for the Kids is potentially the worst song I have in my iTunes. It sounds like Simple Plan.

Always, Feeling This, Down, and I Miss You are four of their finest three minutes, however. Always is probably the most underrated song by an overrated band, in my humble.

Sooooo we agree?

I envy your ignorance, though I'm pretty surprised by that. They were pretty big in the early-mid 2000s pop-punk scene around the same time as Fall Out Boy, Panic At the Disco, Good Charlotte etc.

Would like to say Fall Out Boy are in an league of their own compared to those other bands you mentioned. Criminally underrated pre-hiatus, mainly because they had an annoying habit of releasing the worst songs on their albums as singles.

I don't like the sound of that street.

It's pretty much every street.

Not saying they're not a good or important band to serious musicians, but face facts - the majority of the general public have probably never heard of them or couldn't give two shits about them.

I'm sure you are surprised.

I couldn't name a song by the three other bands you mentioned either. I'm not sure why Blink 182 escaped my crap filter but they did. Maybe it was the dick jokes and the big boobs in the videos???

Who knows.

Nevertheless, people do overrate the "importance" of bands like Fugazi, Sonic Youth, etc.

I love a Sonic Youth but when someone says they hate them I get it.

I'd agree with that. I never really liked them back in the day because I thought they were just another lame teeny bopper 'rock' band but having listened to them a bit recently they made some solid tunes and were certainly a cut above those other bands.

Yep completely agree. I was exactly the same. I hated the crap they released but some of their best tracks have been the other album tracks.

As for simple plan, they were clearly the worst of the pop-punk scene. Whiny little pre-pubescent shits. Didn't like one of their songs.

Another one I didn't mention before -
Dream Theater specialise in technical w***ery and yes it's true that they are over the top and a bit self-absorbed but if it weren't for these epic solos and showing off they would not be as good as they are. They'd probably just be lumped in amongst the metal bands (in fact probably just rock bands) as just another one. In short, thank God for the technical proficiency. Without it, we'd have more songs like "Wither".
