I have been daring to dream this week about Beating those bloody Hawks, It would be an upset and a half and one of the best wins i've seen.

So in the lead up I started thinking of some of our biggest upsets, the main two that came to mind were..

Vs West Coast, Round 9 2005. Top vs bottom and we outran them in the last quarter, i was there and 9 years old, Blake Caracella became my favourite player with his 5 goals that day(Didn't last very long). Inspired win.

Vs Geelong, Round 9 2008. They were the best team in the comp and we were a young improving list, we were at long odds to just win but we didn't just win we absolutely pounded them by 86..... Up there with my favourite ever games.

Can you think of anymore, and do you think we can pull off the impossible on the weekend?

RD 8 2005 vs Eagles.

Last beats 1st and 1st was Undefeated.

I was my 2nd game I went to by myself live. Went the week before and been going to the Games ever since

The Dogs beating Essendon in 2000 is one of the biggest upsets of all time.

Why shouldn't we dream of an upset, it's most likely going to be our last game and there is no point heading in to the game even as a fan with a mindset that we are going to get smashed.

We will have until March to worry and complain about the season we have just had but we should try and enjoy this game, if we win then that will the biggest win I could remember.

The amount of best 22 players that are out does make it very hard to see us causing a massive upset.

Hawks have been our Bogy Team for quite some time

But we did beat them when it counted, 2011 Prelim. Could be a Geelong Hawks dynamic, Geelong wins most but Hawks win the important ones.

I'm throwing all logic out the window this weekend, and just running on hope.

That win in 2011 seems a bit of a One Off

We actually defeated them 2 times that year.:thumbsu:

So far this year the 2 biggest upsets have probably been GWS over the Swans and the Saints beating Freo, so that leaves the Hawks to notch up their first upset loss of the year this week.

2002 when we knocked off the lions at etihad, the roof nearly blew off.

Was just about to post that. I was sitting next to our cheer squad that night. After the game some guy from the crowd just gave Eddie this massive hug.

The 2007 final against the eagles in perth....we'd been on the road three out of four weeks with a bunch of kids and they just kept sticking at it. They won that one in overtime!

And don't even get me started about the 1958 GF!
go pies

yeah... nah

I think I will feel much better on the day by not getting my hopes up.

Guys, you're all looking at it the wrong way. We are certainties this week!

Hawthorn have never beaten us 7 times in a row. They've got to 6 wins in a row three times, but Collingwood win the game when they're going for 7 in a row! And of course, Hawthorn have won the last 6 against us. They're going for the 7th, but as history shows, the Pies will win this one!

(Yes, I searched all day for this so I could have a small hope of walking out of the G on Friday with a win!)

lol....those Hawk sides of the '80s and early 90's won more than 7 in a row against MOST sides....they were the real deal.
People go on about great sides now (Swans, Hawks, Cats) but seriously the '80s Hawks and the 2001-2003 Lions were streets ahead of today's sides.
