Who won? No mention on the Web site all other divisions are there. What's happening?

There's usually a few decent players running around, including the occasional ex-AFL player and some other blokes who have played at a high standard, but yeah, a guy who is 201cm and straight from a season playing SANFL is going to stand out like crazy! Apparently his g/f is from Texas so he was probably there for a visit and the temptation to give him a run was just too great.

He (Jason Sutherland) should have stood out at 201cm and 108kgs. He was amongst the best on ground for Central Districts in the (SANFL) Reserve Grade Grand Final win on October 7th. He is married to a Texan so i guess thats how he ended up at the Dallas Magpies for the USAFL championships. Last year he rejected a scholarship from Angelo State University to play as a Punter in their college football program.

Seems a bit unfair, why not give it to the runners up?

Because of pool play. Each division is 2 pools of 4 teams. They play each other for 3 games. Winners of 2 pools play in final. So its possible the team that was 2-1 in their pool would have won the final.

Hi, I am travelling to the US at the end of this year and looking at staying for approx 6 month working, would love to get a kick in while im there, can someone shed a bit of light on the competition (when the season run, leagues, things like that, would be looking at playing in one of the stronger leagues if there are any stand outs)

This is the website for the footy in the US . It lists teams and contacts. Do not think they have leagues per se as the teams are to spread out. You play who you are close enough to. Quality varies from experienced Aussie players to Americans who have never played before. Best way is to get on the website, and contact some clubs near where you will be.
