Vanilla should actually be a compliment as it has flavour. If a player was plain and boring the term should be like having original flavoured chips. There plain as *.

Vanilla roasted? Hmm maybe.

I first heard it being used not long after Vanilla Coke came out and thought it was a way of saying shitty ripoff flavour...like you cant beat the original.

I love Vanilla Coke, but I don't really know anyone else who does.

I quite like the metaphor, to be honest. Just as good as 'scythe'.

Damn it, didn't think of Vanilla Coke.

The greatest* drink known to man.

Getting sick of seeing this used to describe players or whatever every 2nd or 3rd post

Please stop

I actually don't mind the term, when used in context.

It's just way over-used and used to describe things that it doesn't.

I thought the use of vanilla was in the context of being ordinary and nothing special.

i.e a player who has no redeeming skills or performs at an average standard.

Yeah it is bland uninspiring most common flavour. What I said above was just what I thought the first time I heard it used to describe something.
