VFL Game Day VFL Round 16: Footscray vs Essendon (22 point loss; 76-54)

A top 5 clash this week for our magoos as a curtain raiser before the AFL game against reigning premiers Footscray. A win for Essendon could get them to as high as 1st on the ladder (although extremely unlikely), but a loss could mean they drop down to 8th (also extremely unlikely), conversely for the Bulldogs a win could send them to 4th place but a loss could send them to 8th.

Footscray are coming off a big upset loss to the struggling Coburg Lions by 48 points, with no player kicking multiple goals for Footscray. Mitch Honeychurch was good through the middle for Footscray, collecting 24 disposals, and Nathan Hrovat was also good with 29 disposals and a goal.

Essendon just had one of the biggest comebacks of the VFL season so far, after being 42 points down during the 3rd quarter Essendon slammed on 9 of the last 10 goals to win by 13 points over Geelong VFL. Courtenay Dempsey was very good, kicking 4 goals and Daniel Coghlan collected 28 disposals and a goal in a BOG display

It's a very big game in the context of the season, Essendon by 13 points.

Surely we're taking the piss
Don't forget Myers, Coghlan, Polkinghorne, Schroder and Chapman also rotating through there.

Could maybe Dannnnnnnnnn put up a possible VFL Dogs line up for us? Or point us in the direction of someone better informed
Very tough! Our injury reports are dreadful so we never really have any idea who's going to be fit on any given week haha.

A very rough attempt:

FB Kelly Z. Cordy R. Smith
CHB Darley Russell Goodes
C Dale Jong Webb
CHF Pearce Fort Austin
FF Hayes T. Boyd Hamilton

Cordy Honeychurch Hrovat

Hayes Buchanan Greenwood Jamieson Nash/Coughlan etc

Mostly guesswork to be totally honest though mate.

Boyds gona rip our team apart
The word on our board is that he'll play seniors this week. Would surprise me, but it could happen. Might mean one of Redpath/Campbell drop back to the VFL side or we might try to stretch your AFL side. Not sure. A lot of questions to be answered with team selection tonight - none of us really know what to expect.

Really strong line up that..

Will need to nullify the Dogs runners through the middle and the aerial dominance Boyd, Hamling and A.Cordy bring.

Big test and one that will answer where those kids we keep speaking about are at (Namely Kav, Aylett and a couple of our talls in Pears and Steinberger - assuming he plays magoos)

Really looking forward to this.have watched bugger all footy this year and zero VFL so it'll give me a chance to see my man Coghlan again.

Glad to see Tagliabue back as well Eth.
